The glitz and glam of Patrick Mahomes and the red mighty Kansas City Chiefs players could well overshadow the awaited matchup between Alabama and Boise State. The upcoming college football season is going to have a lot of eyes on Alabama, but will the fans tune in to their game or the NFL on 21st December?

Kalen DeBoer, the new HC for the Alabama Crimson Tide, has taken over from Nick Saban this season after being the head coach for the Washington Huskies for the past 2 years. There’s an immense amount of pressure on DeBoer’s shoulders to try and match the success of Nick Saban, who won Alabama over 6 national championships. And yet, as per Andy Staples, the NFL is trying to scare college football and their playoff game.

On the 11th June episode of the On3 show with Andy Staples, Jesse Simonton joined in as a guest and talked about the potential matchups the CFP could hold this season. Staples’ prediction landed on the Boise State Broncos, taking on the Alabama Crimson Tide in the first round of the CFP. Additionally, the TNT Network will cover this game while NBC covers the Chiefs versus Texans game, which as per Staples, is a means to instill fear in college football.

Moreover, Staples didn’t seem too enthusiastic about this matchup since he went on to say, ” The worst of the four games, that’s where they’re going to dump it. It’s going to be on TNT.” Also, it makes sense that the Chiefs’ game would overshadow Alabama’s since they are defending their title of the Super Bowl champs and also trying to go for a three-peat, which is certainly more interesting than the playoffs. Even though Alabama has a good chance of making it to the final 4 of the CFP, the same can’t be said for the Boise State Broncos since their history speaks for itself.

Andy Staples wasn’t too off when he said that the Broncos would go on to win the Mountain West Football championship since the team has won 6 of those in the past 7 years, with only the year 2021 obstructing their streak. But when it comes to the results of the playoffs, the Boise still needs a lot more poise in their roster to make a dent in the NCAA.

The Broncos have only made it to the playoffs 5 times in history, with their last occurrence being in 1994 when they lost to the Youngstown State Penguins for the national championship game. Moreover, the Boise have won the national championship only twice in their entire existence, namely in the years of 1958 and 1980. They have seen a big trophyless drought and if Staples’ words are to be believed, this could be the season when the Broncos change it all for themselves.
