“I’m a mixture of both” said Shedeur Sanders when asked if he is more like Tom Brady or Mike Vick. The world around Shedeur Sanders continues to crumble as he’s on the front page of the college football news yet again. Only this time, he has nothing but his arrogance to blame for it. When he called himself a bit of both, the comparison rubbed some people the wrong way.

Not too long ago, he was termed as an unworthy leader when he claimed to not have remembered Xavier Smith after he left Colorado and then faced more heat online for his constant back and forths, whether it be with his haters or ex-teammates. Now, the stakes seem to be shifting against him as reports suggest that scouts are picking Carson Beck to be the higher pick at the 2025 NFL Draft, rather than Shedeur.

Did Shedeur’s Brady comments affect his draft stock?

By the looks of it, maybe it wasn’t so much the comparisons but his performance and overall sportsmanship that seemed to be getting in the way of his draft stocks. For the past 6 months, Shedeur’s draft stock has been on a downward spiral. It is almost impossible to ignore that this happened around the same time as his controversial social media beef caught the attention of everyone in the NCAA community. If he wasn’t in deep waters already, he certainly didn’t help his case by claiming to be a mix of Tom Brady and the former Atlanta Falcons QB, Michael Vick. In what seemed like an innocent enough comparison, Shedeur pointed out, “I’m able to stay in the pocket and want to deliver the ball each and every play like Brady but be able to extend plays and if it’s not there, take it like Vick.” Fate seems to have taken a turn for the worse as Shedeur’s comparisons aren’t justifying his draft stock ratings, which puts him below Carson Beck.

As per the 10th June tweet of NFL Rookie Watch, Shedeur’s bold statement has resulted in scouts favoring Carson Beck of Georgia instead of the Colorado QB, who already ranked higher than him in terms of draft stock. But maybe it is not his comparisons but actual stats that got him in this spot. He was sacked 52 times, making him the most sacked QB in the last season. In fact, even Daniel Kelly of First Round Mock doesn’t believe that Shedeur would be a first-round pick. With all that said, there is one thing we can’t ignore, and that is Shedeur’s stats, which are better than both Brady and Vick’s.

Shedeur is better than both Brady and Vick at the college level

There is no doubt about the fact that there is no greater player than Tom Brady in the history of the sport. But Brady established his dominance only after stepping into the NFL. Before that, he was just an average Joe, with not-too-impressive scores. The same goes for Michael Vick, who holds the record for the most career rushing yards (6,109) by a QB, and that too, only happened in his NFL career, not college.

Whereas Shedeur’s numbers already look better than both Brady and Vick, despite the poor season his team had last season. Brady played 4 years with the Michigan Wolverines, from 1996 to 1999 and his best one came in 1998. During this year, he recorded over 2427 passing yards and finished over 14 touchdowns. As for Vick, he played only 2 years in college with Virginia Tech and his best season was recorded in 1999. In this year, Vick recorded over 1840 passing yards and a total of 12 touchdowns.

These numbers pale in comparison to the stats that Shedeur recorded in 2023. Are you ready for it? Brace for impact. The Colorado QB recorded over 3,230 passing yards and finished a staggering amount of 27 touchdowns. Thus, this goes on to show that despite being constantly villainized, the Colorado star is already better than the two legends of the sport, despite whatever the fans have to say against him.
