Did Carson Beck hear something cracking? Because he just shattered the false notion Colin Cowherd had built. With all the hype surrounding him being the touted QB1 in the 2025 NFL draft, Beck might as well get used to it. “I don’t think he’s a top-five pick,” Cowherd had confessed on his ‘Colin Cowherd podcast’. Although his say was away from the initial expert consensus formed around Beck, the problem was it proved to be utterly false in the ‘way-too-early’ mock 2025 NFL drafts.

With about 10 months remaining for the 2025 NFL draft to unfold, scouting gurus have already started their job of making mock drafts. James Fragoza of Pro Football Network was one of them. Throwing Cowherd’s opinion under the bus, Fragoza’s mock draft surely sees Carson Beck as a top-five prospect. Touted as the ‘unquestioned QB1’ by Fragoza, Carson Beck goes to the Las Vegas Raiders as a No.5 overall in the mock draft.

Well, surprise, surprise. The team that was labeled as ‘ a team highly likely to be searching for a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft’ by Raiders Today lands the top QB prospect in the draft. A match made in heaven. In the 2024 draft, the Raiders went fast and furious in their chase of top QBs like Jayden Daniels and JJ McCarthy. All to no avail as they drafted QB Gardner Minshew in the first round and passed on drafting a QB during every other round.

Raiders Assistant General Manager Champ Kelly has iterated his confidence in Minshew and O’Connell. But their need for a good QB is almost evident at this point. Their quest for an A-Line QB from their previous season is expected to continue in the 2025 NFL draft as well. Since the Raiders are getting the coveted 5th spot and since the teams above the Raiders have dire requirements in different departments other than QB in Fragoza’s draft, Beck is expected to land right in Nevada. Cherry on the cake? Fargoza isn’t the only one backing up Beck against the claim of Colin Cowherd.

Georgia QB Carson Beck backed up to be QB1

It is not just the mock draft gurus on Beck’s side. NFL scouting experts are also on board. Per the fresh word from the league, a top 25 teams’ DC strongly believed, “He’s got that prototypical first-round QB look to him,” he chirped with praises of Beck. Per him, Beck is the perfect blend of size, accuracy, and accuracy on the deep ball.

Beck even stood out more to this DC than the previous year’s Heisman Champion Jayden Daniels. “I think he throws a better deep ball than Jayden Daniel,” the DC said without skipping a beat. Speaking of the Heisman Championship, by this point it goes without saying, that Carson Beck is set straight to become the Heisman Champion in 2025.

It’ll be impossible to keep him out of New York in December,” ESPN’s Ryan McGee confidently said about Carson Beck. Now it all boils down to how much Beck has further refined himself for this season to make him the hottest draft pick in the 2025 NFL draft market.
