Other NFL teams are taking notes from Ryan Poles and Co. for plotting the ultimate comeback plan in the 2024 season. The Bears’ roster needed a heavy renovation to reach the heights the team wanted. While Caleb Williams’ addition to their roster would be enough, Matt Eberflus knew better than assuming one player, that too a fresh college player, to lift the sullen records of a whole team.
However, they were not about to waste having a generational talent like QB on their roster just because of this reason. So they took a tougher path – Drafting an equally skilled WR to accompany Williams on the field. The Bears drafting Williams at No. 1 is an almost done deal. However, their draft at no.9 was not much discussed. Until now, the Bears have taken the NFL draft news by storm again through his talks with the Patriots.

“The Bears are aggressively pursuing a deal to jump from 9 to 3 and pair Caleb Williams with Marvin Harrison Jr.,” Simon Charles, a Patriots journalist tweeted. Per his sources, Charles has been hearing about “some massive deal being in work between the Patriots and the Bears.” If the Bears strike this trade successfully, they’ll have the most lethal QB-WR pair under their belt in the first round itself.

During his final year at Ohio State, Harrison Jr. coupled well on-field with QB CJ Stroud, rushing for 1211 yards and scoring 14 touchdowns. With Harrison Jr. by his side, Stroud scored 4108 yards the 8th highest in the 2023 season, and made 5 interceptions, the 5th best in the season.
The point is Marvin Harrison Jr. and Caleb Williams’ blazing numbers can amass as a pair. It will be a fresh start for the Bears, only if Caleb Williams is equally sold on Harrison, which doesn’t seem likely.

Caleb Williams does not seem too sure about whom he wants the Bears to draft as their other first-round pick. Per Tom Pelissero, Odunze was throwing the ball with not only Williams’ but also Bears’ WR DJ Moore and Keenan Allen at the Combine. To add to this, the Bears also hosted Odunze’s visit.
While the Bears already had two WRs on their plate to be confused about, Williams came advocating for his high school friend Olu Fashanu. When asked about whom he would want the Bears to pick at No.9, Williams instantaneously responded with Fashanu’s name. “I’d probably go Olu Fashanu because I know he’d put his life on the line for me,” Williams said.
