One of the top prospects not being able to perform one of the most important tests was not on the NFL scouts’ or head coaches’ list. The week was dedicated to finding out the best players per their roster requirements and JJ McCarthy was one whose performance was something that most scouts awaited. Seems that they would have to wait more because the Michigan QB has reportedly gotten a slight injury in his hamstring during the NFL Combine Week. The worst part? The injury updates came in just a day before he was set to give his 40-yard dash test, along with his jump test.
Anthony Broome, a Michigan reporter, revealed the news through X saying, “JJ McCarthy will not run the 40 or jump tomorrow. Has a slight hamstring tweak.” Would this impact McCarthy’s ranking in the NFL draft or will the scouts trust in the practice they have seen throughout the week to place them on their team’s roster?

While the injury is reported as a ‘slight tweak’, the repercussions can prove to be massive for McCarthy, given the pivotal point of his career he is in, nearing the NFL draft which is set to take place in April. However, all the drama surrounding the QBs, especially analysts dissecting their careers like a dream come true is adding brand new sizzles to the headlines every day. While McCarthy has been on the receiving end of being compared to the GOAT Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes, he is not a stranger to criticism.

Yet, McCarthy has been the one to land the most conversations with the most franchises of the NFL as compared to Williams or Maye.
