Jaylen Brown's comments on Bronny James—fair critique or just plain disrespectful?

The accusations against LeBron James of having a hand in Bronny James getting drafted are still coming in at full force. However, the Celtics’ guard, Jaylen Brown, is under some intense scrutiny, a tad bit more than LeBron James and his son. It is because of his choice of words, not to forget who he chooses to say it to. Bronny James, the Lakers second-round pick, is no stranger to criticism. So, Brown did not expect things to take an opposite turn when he presented his honest take on Bronny James.

“I don’t think Bronny is a pro. I think because of his name he’ll be on the Lakers,” Brown said during the Celtics vs. Lakers game which he was attending with his girlfriend, WNBAer Kysre Gondrezick. The real problem, per Reach the People Media’s host, was not this. It was Gondrezick’s company, Angel Reese. Bringing down a debuting player in front of WNBA stars qualified to be a cheap shot from Brown’s end. Tyler Brown, the Colorado recruit, also considered it a low blow.

During his conversation with Reach the People Media aired on July 20, Tyler Brown made it clear. “I didn’t like it and I feel like a lot of times guys go out of their way like talking bad about somebody else to make themselves look good or a lot of guys go out of their way to be extra in front of women,” was the honest opinion of the CU recruit. The LeBron James, being a helping hand in his son’s draft pick, was a fiasco and its consequences were enough to beware anyone planning to execute something similar in the near future.

When fans heard the rumors about LeBron James, they could not help but think that this might unfold next season too, just in the NFL draft. Deion Sanders, whose star sons Shedeur and Shilo are set to enter the Pro League in 2025, has set some high expectations from them already. Like them getting drafted in the first round, if not as the top draft pick, plus them getting drafted in one of his preferred 6 teams.

Don’t get us wrong, LeBron James rumors are not the only things fueling this assumption. Coach Prime has clearly mentioned that he has “contacts in the NFL world.” Given his popularity, that won’t come off as a huge surprise. What is a surprise, however, is Shilo Sanders expecting his father “to do something” to get him into a good team, as he mentioned in one of his interviews. Now, will all of it happen as the fans are speculating it to? Or will Prime play it by the book? Only time will tell.
