Warren Sapp, a Hall of Famer, is taking a break from his coaching responsibilities with the Colorado Buffaloes. The former defensive tackle was making the most of the off-season as a hands-on coach for the Buffaloes. What better way to make his time sweeter? Sapp chose to meet with Melo and catch up.

His latest Instagram post shows Colorado’s graduate assistant in his signature style posing with the Lakers giant, Carmelo Anthony. For the time being, Sapp partying with Melo might have caught attention. The coach’s blunt warning to the Colorado roster still has the Buffs and fans talking.

Yes, Sapp is not fishing. But his latest Instagram post is definitely fishy. In what appears to be a pub in the background, Sapp is seen posing with Anthony and having a great time over wine. The caption of the post reads, “My Dawg @carmeloanthony #AspenFood&Wine #SappNotFishing.” The premier culinary event, Aspen Food and Wine, occurs in Aspen. This year, it has been scheduled between June 14 and June 16. Luckily, the Buffs’ off-season coincided with the food-and-wine classic.

With this, it seems that Sapp might have picked up cooking and wine tasting as his new hobby. And the 10-time NBA All-Star, Anthony, was there to take this culinary experience a notch higher for the Buffs’ graduate assistant. The greater-than-life side of Sapp had been missing for quite some time now. It has been only two months since he joined the Colorado staff, but from the beginning, tolerating nonsense from the roster is a BIG NO NO for him.

Sapp and his no-nonsense attitude toward the Buffs’ roster

The Buffs have pushed the rebound button following a disappointing last season that culminated with a 4-8 record. Hence, Sapp ushered in with himself a cultural shift and the much-needed oomph factor of being a Gold Jacket himself. Uncle Neely confirmed on Thee Pregame Show how Colorado’s graduate assistant will not bear any laid-back attitude. Of course, he had to take the oar in his hands.

While unity is most important to turn over the “disappointing” narrative, the Pro Football Hall of Famer knows the secret code to make the players stand in one line. To ensure that no Buff digresses from their goal, the coach has a simple yet brutal fix, “You come at me sideways, I’m going to take it. It’s okay. Now I’m going to straighten you up.” But there is nothing to think that Sapp here is being partial. While his clear code of conduct goes as “It ain’t sideways, so we got a direct line of communication,” it comes with a disclaimer: “It’s not personal.”

Sapp ticks on one of the crucial boxes of coaching quality to “go more than halfway” for the players who wish to help themselves only by getting better. Will Sapp turn out to be the lucky charm bringing the best potential out of the Buffs roaster after getting straightened up?
