Jeff Passan’s recent announcement, along with making headlines in the baseball community, has made its way through the football community but for the wrong reasons. Passan announced details of baseballer Shohei Ohtani’s deal with the Dodgers, stating that he would be signing on for 10 years and a whopping $700 million. The problem: bad timing!. NFL fans were quick to criticise the announcement on the big game day.

The deal will not only make Ohtani the all time earnings leader in the history of MLB, it will also be written as one of the grandest and largest contract in U.S. team sports history. Somehow, it does not go well with the Army-navy fans.

Safe to say, fans are upset. “Why are we breaking this during the Army Navy game…” commented a fan, clearly expressing their frustration. They wanted to bask in the thrill of the day they had been awaiting the whole year. All of it was swept away by an announcement from a sport besides the NFL. Who is to blame?
