After the glamourous start of Deion Sanders with the Colorado Buffaloes, it seems that the colors have started to fade for the Sanders. The audience was quite anticipating a virtuoso performance from the popular father-son duo. However, the odds have turned out to be against them, as the Buffaloes have lost four of their five last games with ‘Coach Prime’ in the picture. Adding to the list, the Buffaloes had to surrender yet another win to the UCLA Bruins this week.

Despite having a lead, thanks to Alejandro Mata in the first quarter, the Buffaloes saw a sharp decline in the game. Following the Colorado-dominated first quarter, UCLA QB Ethan Garbers passed a successful touchdown pass to Carson Steele, marking the onset of the Bruins’ domination in the game. However, the situation worsened for the team when Deion Sanders’ son, as well as Colorado’s safety Shilo Sanders, was ejected from the game due to ‘targeting’. It is safe to say Coach Sanders was not in agreement with the decision.

Following the embarrassing loss and his son getting tossed out of the game, Deion Sanders made his opinion about the ejection clear just after their loss when ESPN’s Holly Rowe interviewed him on the sidelines. “I think it was horrendous,” asserted Sanders. Moreover, addressing the situation further, ‘Coach Prime’ addressed the media post-game where he talked about ‘questioning the decision’. “The targeting for Shilo, I’m still questioning those things. But it is what it is,” said the Colorado head coach.

Furthermore, he added his take on how these decisions have a major impact on the results and, more importantly, the players. “I think they have a tremendous bearing on the outcome of the game because when you lose a safety of that caliber, who’s the QB of the defense, that’s a tremendous blow. And that play on the sideline, I think it was a third down, would have been off the field as well.” However, having won two Super Bowl rings, Coach Sanders knows better than feeling upset about such games.

Many fans agreed with the expression of ‘Coach Prime’ in his take on his son being tossed out of the game for tackling Carsen Ryan during a reception, which, even though looked legitimate at first, was flagged later. However, letting everyone know once again what a true sportsman is, Deion Sanders took complete ownership of the situation, taking ‘full responsibility’ for it.

Adding to it, he also mentioned the changes they’ll be making as a team, moving forward. “So we got to do a lot better, not only offensively, and defensively, but coaching the game as well.” Even though it is one of the best offenses in the Pac-12, Sanders still wants to address their shortcomings, especially when they have to play against one of the best defenses in the Pac-12.
