Does arriving in a $99,000 car make the 2025 edge rusher a bigger deal than Shedeur Sanders?

You thought Shedeur Sanders and his $70k AP “watch flex” were the wildest things that happened in college football? Hell nah, we got a new kid on the block doing many flashy things which would even put “Prime Time” and millionaire Shedeur to shame. Jared Smith, the 6 foot 6 monster, heading to Auburn (probably) this August 3rd, got all the heads turning when he decided to show up to the Big Cats Weekend in something very silver and very shiny.

On3 Recruits took to X to share the update about Smith. “Elite 2025 EDGE Jared Smith pulled up to Auburn’s Big Cat Weekend in a Tesla Cybertruck,” posted On3 on July 27th. Smith, the 5-star player, is projected to commit to Auburn Tigers on August 3rd. Although nothing is set in stone. There are predictions that Auburn would secure him before Georgia or Ole Miss manages to. All of this comes from the infamous On3 RPM, which had previously correctly predicted five other finalists as well. On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmions also made comments regarding the Tigers and Smith. “Auburn has made a big push for Smith. His recruitment is far from over,” Smite mentioned.

Anyway, driving to a conference in an almost $100k beast? Ah, Shedeur Sanders finally has some good competition waiting for him. However, why does Auburn have the hots for Jared? Well, he is the 4th best EDGE and 42nd overall prospect in the COUNTRY!! That’s not all; he is also the No.2 player from Alabama according to the On3 Industry Ranking. That kid has also received massive praise for his skills on the field. Auburn Daily’s Brian Smith put it perfectly. “Smith has a good burst off the snap of the football and is a quality pass rusher,” Brain mentioned. It ain’t no wonder why he’s one of the most sought-after defensive end recruits in the nation. However, Jared Smith ain’t the only one who could be heading to the Tigers.

The Big Cats Weekend has been a great success for Auburn. Jared Smith pulled up in his Cybertruck, but that’s not all. Auburn also saw some massive commitments for the program, although it’s for their 2026 class. The first one was a 4-star EDGE Hezekiah Harris from Huntsville. Harris is the No.19 overall prospect in the country. Also on the list was Shadarius Toodle. No.64 overall prospect and a 4-star linebacker.

What’s your perspective on:

Does arriving in a $99,000 car make the 2025 edge rusher a bigger deal than Shedeur Sanders?

Have an interesting take?

Toodle even went on to praise HC Hugh Freeze. “He’s turning the program back into a national championship contender.” Toodle had mentioned. That is quite true. Auburn had an amazing recruitment class back in 2024 and now, with solid commitments for 2026, looks like the Tigers are definitely gonna roar.
