Since Jimbo Fisher’s massive buyout became the highlight of 2023 for not only Texas A&M but also for the whole of college football, the program has traveled a long way. Following Fisher’s firing, the university promoted Mike Elko, their former defensive coordinator, to the position of head coach. Safe to say, the coach is striding confidently into their future, as recruits step in for the upcoming season, where Elko is set to give his first test as the A&M coach. The university already boasts a winning record of 7-6 in the last season, hence it would be on Elko’s shoulders to follow suit. Well, Elko can trust the process, especially when he has players like Terry Bussey choosing Texas over other universities.

The Timpson native is an in-vogue name among the recruits, as he brings not only one but two specializations to the table. Bussey is a two-way star, one who is compared to the college football star Two-way player Travis Hunter, per 247 Sport’s Copper Petagna. “This might be the best two-way athlete since Travis Hunter,” said he.

Per ON3, Bussey is a “Do-it-all athlete who is arguably the best high school football player in the state of Texas.” Given his 5’10.5″ height paired with 181 pounds, paired with his on-track experience, makes him one of the fastest prospects in the 2024 season. Bussey displays extensive dexterity, both as a QB and as a defensive back, as a safety, and a corner. Thanks to his experience in track sports and long jump, the player poses a perfect balance of explosive aggression of slithering fluidity. Since his freshman days, Bussey has never backed away from sticking his face into the traffic.

Per On3 stats, Bussey finished his junior season with 4,773 yards and 72 touchdowns, along with picking off five passes and returning four for touchdowns. All the tussle ended him en route to the title of ‘Mr. Texas Football.’ While Mike Elko’s plans for him remain a mystery, Texas A&M fans are ready to bash as top-tier athletes pour in Texas.

Another recruit joins Terry Bussey at Texas A&M

Seems that Bussey won’t be the only one handling Texas’s reins as a four-star offensive tackle, Robert Bourdon joins Texas after decommiting from Duke University on Wednesday. “I think he’s an extremely athletic offensive lineman, he’s a lacrosse player, has really good feet, has a really big frame and I think he projects to be a really good offensive tackle for us, so really excited for that,” said Elko praising his recruit.
