With McCarthy’s departure to the Vikings, Smith might be the puzzle piece sought by Sherone Moore, according to Peterson’s analysis. Supporting his claim, Peterson points to the viral U-M Spring game highlight in which Smith showcased his dual-threat ability on the field, impressing the onlookers.

“One of the things I love about Smith is his dual-threat ability… watching Smith dominate on Friday night in a spring jamboree and scoring seven rushing touchdowns in two games — should make you feel good about the future of the QB room,” wrote Peterson in his article.
