In his recent appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, Sherrone Moore, the newly-recruited Wolverines coach did not mince his words while hinting at the Michigan-Ohio State rivalry. Moore issued a stern warning against Ohio State, coached by Ryan Day ensuring their unwavering commitment to defeating their arch-rivals echo through his speech, saying, “We’re trying to beat them every single day”.

Even though the Buckeyes under Day’s mentorship added notable players like Will Howard to the roster, Moore’s warning added a spark to the rivalry between these two powerhouse programs. Besides, Bill O’Brien also made his way as Buckeyes’ assistant coach cutting ties with the Patriots.  

Moore’s message keeps the flame of rivalry on

Over the past decade, the Michigan-Ohio State rivalry witnessed a significant shift in momentum. The Buckeyes posted a formidable 7-3 record along with an impressive streak of seven victories between 2013 and 2019. But in the recent three meetings, Michigan has emerged victorious. The newly appointed Wolverines coach, shed light on their winning mantra, “That’s everything we work for all year. That’s the standard we uphold ourselves in that program and we’ll continue to do so. We know everything we do and we work for as we’re trying to beat them every single day.” 

Moore’s declaration underscores the deep-rooted enthusiasm of Michigan’s coaching staff. In regard to this, the mentality to take charge over Buckeyes has transpired among the players as well setting the tone for the team’s relentless pursuit of victory over their long-standing adversaries. Interestingly, under the mentorship of Day, Ohio State has made some big moves this offseason.

Recently Ohio State has revamped its coaching staff with the addition of Coach Bill O’Brien. With an extensive coaching history, balancing roles in NFL and college football, the newly-appointed coach seems to guide the Buckeyes in the coming days. He boasts his experience as Houston Texans’ head coach while serving as the offensive coordinator for the New England Patriots.

In terms of the layers’ roster, Will Howard, the former Kansas State quarterback brings his experience and skill set to the Buckeyes program. Possessing an impressive record of 12-5 in 17 starts over the past two seasons, Howard’s entry has been supportive for the Buckeyes. With the Wolverines-Buckeyes rivalry growing strong, the player aims to break the three-game losing streak and has invested himself in the historic rivalry.
