Jim Harbaugh might have been plotting the biggest reunion with a Michigan player all along! While many anticipated it to be JJ McCarthy initially, it turned out that WR Roman Wilson suits the Chargers’ roster requirements the best.

While elite-class WRs like Malik Nabers and Marvin Harrison Jr. are lining up the top-10 picks already, they might not bring the things Jim Harbaugh and Co. need the most in their WR: speed. Not only does Wilson get the genes of putting his leg agility to good use from his mother’s track and field genes, but also from his experience in running the track. He scored a 4.03 in Michigan’s Pro Day in the 40-yard dash. The guy can run with speed, which is exactly what the Chargers roster needs right now, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. “I’m told they are looking for like a speed receiver out there,” Fowler said.

Wilson satisfies the crucial criteria the Chargers were looking for in the WR, already inching him closer to the WR position in the Chargers roster. That, paired with Wilson being one of the best blockers in the whole of Michigan, makes him the perfect mix. Trevor Sikkema agreed strongly, “This dude will BLOCK his b*tt off,” on the Up & Adams show.

The vacancy of Keenen Allen from the Chargers demands an equally potent WR to be a part of the team. Allen could block, and so could Wilson. Since Wilson is coming fresh out of the college world, his blocking skills might not be as refined as Allen’s. However, the WR holds the potential to reach there, satiating two major requirements of the Chargers. Not to forget his familiarity with Harbaugh’s coaching style makes him all too tough to resist for the Chargers. Despite the brownie points, Wilson will not be getting an easy entry.
