However, coaches or players made none about a 2024 return. Despite the absence of such declarations, the atmosphere was celebratory, featuring standing ovations, spirited chants, and renditions of The Victors. 

Quarterback J.J. McCarthy, amid ‘one more year’ chants, expressed his enduring love for Michigan, irrespective of his decision. The sensational young quarterback tossed an iconic $30,000 pass, which might translate to his last as a Michigan player.

Michigan football’s triumphant 2024 national title celebration took place at a vibrant Crisler Center, adorned with an array of trophies and accolades. The team basked in the glory of receiving top honors, including the CFP National Championship trophy, MacArthur Bowl, and AFCA Coaches’ Trophy. J.J. McCarthy was captured having his moment with the AFCA Coaches’ Trophy. The young quarterback tossed the $30,000  Waterford crystal trophy in the shape of a glistening football to his peer who put it back on its original stand. 

These prestigious awards shared the stage with the Rose Bowl’s Leishman Trophy and the Amos Alonzo Stagg Award, a testament to Michigan’s stellar season and Big Ten Championship triumph. The event featured addresses from Coach Jim Harbaugh, athletic director Warde Manuel, and key team captains, including JJ McCarthy, Mike Sainristil, Zak Zinter, Kris Jenkins, Trevor Keegan, and Blake Corum.

Will Jim Harbaugh return to Michigan in 2024? 

During the celebration at Crisler Center for Michigan football’s 2024 national title, there were no announcements from coaches or players about returning for 2024. Head coach Jim Harbaugh received an enthusiastic ovation, and athletic director Warde Manuel reassured fans of ongoing efforts to secure Harbaugh’s leadership with a new contract. Michigan offers a 10-year, $125 million contract extension, making Harbaugh one of the highest-paid college football coaches. The extension includes a clause preventing NFL consideration for 2024. A shorter-term alternative offer of around $11 million has also been presented. Harbaugh’s current contract runs until 2026, and NFL return rumors persist.
