The Miami Hurricanes battled the season with a depleting running backs depth chart due to unprecedented injuries. However, as the regular season enters its final month, the Hurricanes anticipate that starter Henry Parrish Jr., along with reserves Ajay Allen, Don Chaney Jr., and Mark Fletcher Jr., who had all been severely injured and missed multiple games, have finally recovered.
Fletcher, who was sidelined for four games this season due to a foot stress fracture, made his comeback on Saturday against NC State at Carter-Finley Stadium. Even though he was able to earn a career-best, his team could not make it to the winning column. The young athlete recently took to platform X, to address the NFL fans, urging them to brace themselves for the “biggest rivalry in college football history” that is set to stage on the 12th of November.

The Miami Hurricanes are gearing up for their biggest game of the season as they prepare to face the undefeated Florida State in Tallahassee, feeding fuel to their longstanding rivalry. “Stop whatever you are doing and you watch that game”, said running back Mark Fletcher Jr. who seemed to be looking forward to their upcoming match on Saturday. He refers to the age-old rivalry as a family affair and the biggest in college football history.

Fletcher, who had family members playing on both sides, grew up watching the games from close quarters. He revealed during a press meet that he would witness the match and cheer from both sidelines and to have the opportunity to play for one such match is something that the young athlete always has “been looking forward to.” He has been on the brighter side of performance, after missing out on a few games due to injury, and his performance records have been on a steady rise. His electric performance during Miami’s previous game against NC State recorded a career-best, but he failed to contribute to the team’s overall performance. Largely because of the faltering of another key player.

Fletcher fails to alter Miami’s fate
The young running back recorded accumulating 115 yards but came up just one yard short when Miami faced a fourth-and-1 on N.C. State’s 3-yard line in the fourth quarter of their 20-6 loss at Carter-Finley Stadium. Miami eventually fell to a 20-6 loss to NC State. However, within his inaugural start, Fletcher outperformed the entire Wolfpack running back corps in rushing yards. In vain, though, given the fact that Miami suffered its third loss of the season.

The blame can be put partly on the team’s quarterback Tyler Van Dyke. the fourth-year junior was able to accumulate only 21 completions on 38 throws, which boils down to the lowest completion rate of 55 percent added with three interceptions. This is his second consecutive game without any touchdowns. Regardless of a faltering offensive line, Fletcher was able to break through multiple tackles and averaged 5 yards per carry.
