Good times seem to roll in for Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes after they witnessed some of the lowest lows during the transfer portal. While the entry and exit of players has been a steady menu in the Buffaloes program, amidst the exodus, Coach Prime has something big to celebrate.

The good news is that his football players achieved the second-highest term GPA in school history. As expected, controversy never leaves the Buffs HC no matter what. This was no exception, as Sanders’ critic Coach Jason Brown passed a brutal jab on the record-breaking achievement on the YouTube podcast Coach JB Show With Big Smitty.

Is Sanders’ celebrating academic success a “mercenary” approach?

On the YouTube podcast, Coach JB decided it to be wise enough to take up Deion Sanders’ latest Instagram post. A part of it read, “Coach, got some great news to share. Football student-athletes achieved the 2nd highest term GPA in CU Football history”. Other than this, the Buffs program cumulative GPA has hit above 3.0 which has happened for the first time in CU history. However, for Coach JB this is not enough reason for Deion Sanders to celebrate.

While appreciating Coach Prime’s hard work that went behind this achievement, the host pulled a trigger at Sanders, exposing his money-mindedness. “I want to put this into, this is not the normal GPA LE programs aross America anymore we’re not gonna just talk Colorado. I commend Deon and what he’s done there um with the mercenary business that this is,” came Brown’s unapologetic analysis. However, the “mercenary” angle is not new in Brown’s style of demeaning Sanders as he had done it before.

Brown puts Sanders’ leadership abilities under scrutiny

It was way before Colorado transfers Cormani McClain and Xavier Smith questioned Deion Sanders that the Buffs’ coaching culture came under Coach JB’s radar. The host is under the strong assumption that the Buffs HC can go to any extent to protect his sons. In one of the earlier episodes of his podcast, Brown was found exposing Deion Sanders and holding him accountable, “You’ve hired mercenaries to protect your two sons and yet JB’s the a*sh*le because he’s telling the truth.”

He then started out by pointing out the weak areas of the Colorado program, bringing in reference to Sean King’s analysis, “You don’t even have any depths. Sean King has already talked about it on the show. You have a lateral program, you have no high school depth, you have no o-line depth, no d-line depth, and you have no depth in your program. You have no culture, homie. You have zero culture at all.” This left Brown to question Sanders’ coaching abilities.

While Deion Sanders and company have been slowly recovering from the loss and trauma left during the transfer portal, they did find some light at the end of the tunnel with the GPA results. As Coach JB criticizes the Buffs HC, will he again coop himself up in the rabbit hole or take it as an inspiration to get back to action before the onset of the 2024 season? Do share your thoughts.
