Just like his flamboyant father, Coach Prime, Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders is making waves off the field as well. His liking for trendy fashion and luxury items has turned him into a trendsetter, so much so that even interviews with athletes from other sports can’t help but mention him.
In a recent episode of the talk show “Come And Talk 2 Me,” hosts Ma$e and Cam’ron were thrilled to have boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. on the show. The conversation flowed smoothly, covering everything from the best lightweight fighters to the ins and outs of the boxing world. But then, things took a lighthearted turn.
Cam’ron, clearly impressed by Mayweather’s luxurious $25 million mansion, jokingly remarked, “I was saying look we got to get to the big boy Mansion. We missed the baby mansion and then we ain’t even get to the big boy mansion yet man.” Mayweather, ever the showman, confirmed with a laugh, “I still got that, we’re talking about the palace now.” He gestured towards his opulent LA home, officially declaring it a “palace.”

Cam’ron then spotted a fancy chandelier hanging from the ceiling and playfully inquired, “What is that hanging from the ceiling?” Mayweather replied, “It’s Chihuly,” pointing at the trendy light fixture. He added, “If you stop by the Bellagio in Vegas, it’s Chihuly everywhere.”

Soon, laughter erupted amongst the group, and that’s when Ma$e cleverly chimed in, “Yeah, Shedeur!” showing off his wristwatch referencing Sanders’ signature celebration. The comparison was apt though. While Mayweather was proudly showing off his “Chihuly” chandelier, it seemed like he was having his own version of Sanders’ “AP wristwatch” moment.
Shedeur Sanders turned his watch into a winning brand
Shedeur Sanders, known for his love of luxury, and flashy jewelry turned a celebration into a viral trend last year. After a dominant win against Nebraska, he flashed his $70,000 diamond-encrusted AP watch, signifying the “perfect timing” of their victory. The move, with the watch boasting over 30 carats, soon caught everyone’s attention.

Recognizing the hype, Shedeur repeated his iconic wristwatch move after the Buffs narrowly beat the Arizona State Sun Devils. Despite the Buffs’ overall losing season, the trend wouldn’t be stopped. Shedeur even capitalized on the hype, releasing a song titled “Perfect Timing” featuring the watch on the cover. Clearly a marketing whiz like his father, Coach Prime, Shedeur keeps building his brand. Now, as the regular season is to commence, fans might anticipate even more dazzling displays this year, especially with his NIL value skyrocketing.
