Stepping into a new role, the legendary coach Nick Saban experienced his first Alabama A-Day game as a spectator, not the head coach. This transition, from trading the whistle for a spectator’s seat, is a unique experience for the retired head coach. Yet, it’s evident that he’s relishing the change of pace and the opportunity to be a fan at the A-Day.
Saban was on hand for new head coach Kalen DeBoer’s debut as the Crimson Tide wrapped up spring practice with the A-Day game at Bryant-Denny Stadium. He then honored his former permanent captains — Dallas Turner, Malachi Moore, and Jalen Milroe. During the ceremony, he strongly supported DeBoer and the team’s future. Meanwhile, Saban also joked about a challenge he never faced as a coach.

Nick Saban and his wife, Terry, are classic high school sweethearts. They met at East Fairmont High School and later got married in 1971. Since Saban joined Alabama in 2007, fans have adored Terry just like her legendary husband and even called her Miss Terry. Their love of football has kept their 52-year marriage strong. Terry has also been a constant source of support throughout Saban’s coaching career — even post-retirement.
Now, the couple are enjoying a well-deserved retirement, often watching NFL games together. Saban even jokes about the “advice” he receives from Miss Terry.
