Another 5-star quarterback pursuit by Lincoln Riley and USC? Julian Lewis has been committed to the Trojans since last year. However, as his college football career gets closer, there have been several hints that he’s not there to stay at USC. So, could this move indicate that the Trojans are aware of their 2025 class star quarterback’s potential flip?
If he flips, no other program could entice him as much as Deion Sanders’ Colorado. With all the “We want JuJu” chants, promising scenarios of his devotion to the Buffs HC, and Shedeur Sanders’ hopes in him, the outcome almost feels like his commitment to Colorado is signed on paper. So what’s this big decision by Riley reviving Colorado’s chances of bagging Julian Lewis?
A YouTube episode of David Talks Buffs on July 27 explores the possibility of Julian Lewis becoming a true Buff. As the host reads Greg Biggins’ report from 247Sports, we can’t help but think that Lincoln Riley must know they might not contain the Carrollton HS standout to USC despite his commitment. The report stated, “USC/Lincoln are definitely putting the full court press on Husan Longstreet right now.”

According to the report, the Corona HS standout is a 5-star QB of the 2025 class whose childhood favorite was USC. The Trojans would not need to hunt for another QB if their 5-star commit is truly committed, but a flip to Deion Sanders’ Colorado is a highly likely scenario. We can’t blame Riley for thinking ahead and countering a possible setback from Julian Lewis, who seems to be standing in the doorway with one foot out. Not to be dark, but USC’s plight could be Colorado’s delight if JuJu really flips his commitment, and there are several signs that this could happen.
Signs that Julian Lewis could sign with Colorado
Earlier this month, fans thought the deal was sealed when Julian Lewis visited Boulder for his official third visit. The picture that spiked hope for the Buffs shows him seated, reaching out to a key that Shedeur Sanders was handing over to him. The Buffs quarterback captioned it, “Could it be ‘Perfect Timing’?”
Shedeur will leave for the NFL next year, giving Julian Lewis an immediate starting role in 2025 if he commits to Colorado. The 22-year-old’s wish is to see Julian as his replacement, as he said, “You know, Julian coming, he may be able to take over the reins, but I wouldn’t be mad at that. Whoever is the next quarterback, it should be Julian, but he’ll be like [Deion Sanders’] new son.” We can’t make bold predictions, but it sure looks like the wind is blowing Julian Lewis in favor of Deion Sanders and Colorado.
