Did Gronk just outshine Jalen Milroe in T-Mobile's ad? Who's the real star here?

What could be more inspiring than “three generations of MVPs” talking about Friday night football? It came to be thanks to T-Mobile’s $2 million brainchild, Friday Night 5G Lights. This venture is set to transform one deserving small town with a multi-million-dollar football field technology makeover.

One lucky recipient of a T-Mobile Hometown Grant is Hickory, NC, where the defending NCHSAA 3A champion Red Tornadoes set an unrivaled history in 1964 by not allowing a single point all season. This achievement drove NFL veteran Rob Gronkowski to connect with the current Red Tornadoes team, where he sat down with Alabama star QB Jalen Milroe and Hickory Ridge HS QB Brady Stober. But their exchange is hilarious.

On August 1, T-Mobile uploaded an IG reel featuring retired NFL TE Rob Gronkowski with star QBs Jalen Milroe and Brady Stober. Gronkowski, who enjoys a bit of spice in his dialogues, took this opportunity to roast his juniors. The four-time Super Bowl champion flexed, “I was a beast, you guys would have never had any yards on me.”

Rob Gronkowski was truly a beast during his 11 years in the NFL, primarily with the New England Patriots. Playing alongside NFL GOAT Tom Brady, he was widely considered one of the greatest tight ends of all time with four SB wins and five Pro Bowl selections, among other achievements. His roast of Milroe and Stober is valid, considering his league records for the most total touchdowns in a season by a tight end at 18 and the most receiving touchdowns in a season by a tight end at 17. Now, with his influence in football, he has joined T-Mobile in bringing awareness to the significant investments the company has made in rural America.

In addition to the $2 million football field upgrade, Friday Night 5G Lights will also give out a cash prize of $100,000, 5G network upgrades, a teched-out scoreboard, a 5G-powered halftime drone show, and the tailgate party for the whole town. Rob Gronkowski also has a special present for the winner which is an upgraded weight room from GronkFitness.com.

Gronk described how Friday nights create a unifying bond among different teams. He said, “On Friday nights, all the things that divide us go away. On game day, we’re all just one team and one community with a unifying goal to leave everything on the field and be the best we can be. We need a lot more Friday nights.” The 16 finalists who will be announced in early November will walk away with a $25,000 cash grant. The ultimate winner will be revealed in early December.
