Deion Sanders, once a revered figure, is now facing a public opinion crisis. The loss of numerous players to the spring portal in his second year as the Colorado Buffaloes head coach has significantly tarnished his reputation. The allegations made by some of these departing players have further exacerbated the situation, casting a shadow over his public image. However, Shedeur Sanders has stepped up to defend the program and his father’s reputation.

Shedeur Sanders has steadfastly stood by Colorado, asserting, “If you’re not playing here, that just means you’re doing something wrong.” He has urged fans to maintain their faith, assuring them, “Everybody that’s in is in and Everybody that’s out been out. Trust me we Good Regardless.” Despite the challenges, the 22-year-old QB continues to support his father in recruiting and defending the program, demonstrating his unwavering commitment.

Colorado fans aren’t the only ones mad about the negativity surrounding the program. Shedeur Sanders found himself in a social media beef with former Colorado backup QB Gavin Kuld when he posted, “I learned sometimes you have to take the high road. @GKuld I’ll spare you only this 1 time.” To this, Kuld replied, “Bro @ShedeurSanders what high road? What are u talking about spare me lol?” In his recent X post, the Buffs QB showed his exasperation and hit the internet with a brutal reality check. He wrote, “Y’all just interview anyone that leave from Colorado just to get a negative look on the program.”

People can dig anything out of a young and disappointed man in the portal, and this is what happened with some former Buffs players. Deion Sanders has lost over 41 players in the transfer portal, the most among college football programs. To add salt to the wound, some departing players blurted out their personal experiences in Colorado, which has tarnished Coach Prime’s reputation. Cormani McClain and Xavier Smith are among the ones who took a subtle dig at their former HC.

Cormani McClain and Xavier Smith didn’t leave in silence like most other players after their stay with Coach Prime in Boulder. After hitting the portal, McClain, the former 5-star recruit, said, “Some people just gotta take a step back from things sometimes, certain people, you know. I feel like I just don’t want to play for clicks. I actually want to be involved with a great leading program that’s going to develop players.”

As for Xavier Smith’s allegations are stronger as he claimed that his “expectations of a coach… weren’t met.” He told The Associated Press that Deion Sanders “never even tried to get to know [him].” This is how Smith views Coach Prime: “He was destroying guys’ confidence and belief in themselves. The way he did it, it could’ve been done with a little more compassion.” Shedeur Sanders gave Smith a piece of his mind, commenting, “Bro had to be very mid at best.” While the exact scenario is unknown, the only way Colorado can crawl out of this mess is to show them what they’re made of this season.
