Did Lane Kiffin's trolling go too far, or is he just keeping the rivalry alive?

When you sport as physical as football, injuries are something that you have to take into account. In fact, players are often seen taking breaks that extend to many years, sometimes just because of injuries on the field. Well, one such player is South Carolina transfer receiver Juice Wells. He broke his foot in the Gamecock’s 2023 season and never fully recovered.

The talk about his ‘injury’ ignited yet again when Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin shared his video from a recent practice session in which he is seen with great speed, trying to evade the potential attacks. Well, the fans went into detective mode and lo and behold, starting questioning Wells’ injury.

Was Juice Wells really injured?

On July 25th Lane Kiffen tweeted a video of Juice Wells, who is with Ole Miss now after his transfer from South Carolina this offseason. In the tweet, Juice showcases a surprising recovery as he is visibly very active with a great pace and strong leg footing. This is unexpected considering his left foot injury during Gamecock’s 2023 season. However, some fans doubted it and even came up with their own theories. One user wrote, “The Juice is Loose”, hinting towards the idea of him going on the loose, with no care or precautions whatsoever. Which might even lead to any further injury and then again his exclusion from the 2024 season, due to ‘injury’. A team which is too common when we talk about Juice.

Juice, in addition to the tweet, also gave the fans a visual confirmation that he is all fit and fine. He shared the video on July 25th in which he is doing dart practice on his Instagram account. Again raising the question, is Juice fit for the August 2024 Ole Miss practice? As a player that fans want to see, we can’t forget about one of his most spectacular performances which was in 2022, South Carolina’s victories over Tennessee and Clemson in which Wells hauled in a combined 20 passes for over 300 yards. Well, after that he just vanished in the thin year, playing just 3 matches in the whole 2023 year. Reporters always had this one question now and then to HC Shane Beamer, about when is Juice expected to return. Seems like those questions have been answered now as his return is much-awaited but South Carolina fans have started asking Lane Kiffin to be a bit more cautious about the whole injury situation as it is a bit hard to trust now.

The fans came in blaring

What’s your perspective on:

Did Lane Kiffin's trolling go too far, or is he just keeping the rivalry alive?

Have an interesting take?

South Carolina fans came in and have made it clear for Lane Kiffin by their comment on the tweet video that he shared on his X on July 25th, speculating Juice’s return. One fan came in and in a comment wrote, “Wonder which toe he’ll stub in this time. Arrogance to output ratio is astounding here!”. Juice did not leave South Carolina most faithfully and hence the Carolina fans bringing in such statements is  kind of understandable. The fact that he just vanished made no sense to anyone and now his transfer to Ole Miss is like new bait according to fans, as they have serious doubts about his ”injury” story.

The speculation did not stop there, another X user came in and wrote, “Get used to seeing him in street clothes, coach.” Adding to the disappointment that fans have about him leaving all of a sudden and then making it all about his injury and not recovering fully for so long, avoiding any games. The point is valid enough though could be ruled out if Juice comes up this season and performs like a beast that he once was!

Another user came in and made it all more serious by bringing up the allegation of ”injury doubts” that go around Juice. He commented on Lane’s tweet, “Don’t worry he’ll fake an injury by week 2”. Well, the speculations are not hard to take thinking of all the months that he took off and the way that he just vanished, playing 3 games and not being able to recover fully. Can be the case that all of it is true and the whole situation requires a bit more sympathy from the audience.

All the drama might come to an end very soon, though. Ole Miss is set to face South Carolina this coming Oct 5th in the Williams-Brice Stadium. The environment will go hostile for sure as this would be the first time that Lane Kiffin and Shane Beamer, HC of South Carolina face off against each other after the not-so-satisfactory leave of Juice from South Carolina and then his commitment to Ole Miss this offseason. Well, this is going to be exciting so just get ready for it with a bucket full of popcorn, as the game is on!
