The Colorado Buffaloes are on a new mission to redefine the squad as they prepare for the next season and their newest WR is set to make new waves. Deion’s been preparing the team long and hard to improve their performance from the upsetting season in 2023. As such, LaJohntay Wester’s decision to join Colorado will prove to be a wise signing by Sanders as the youngster is known to possess admirable talent.
LaJohntay Wester, the newest wide receiver for the Colorado Buffaloes, was announced to be the next big addition to the team back in January. He was previously playing for Florida Atlantic University, from where his name and love for the game traveled far and wide in the NCAA. Now that Deion’s brought him on board to be a part of the Buffs’ family, here is Wester explaining his reasons for choosing Coach Prime’s team.

The WR took to a press conference after Coach Prime and CU Buff’s first Spring Practice and responded to a rally of questions posed by the media. He was asked about his decision to choose Colorado as his team rather than other NCAA teams that offered him an opportunity and his answer just goes on to show the hold Deion Sanders has over the current generation of football players.
He said, “Coach Prime and just this environment, this family, you know. It’s a big jump for us because we come from Florida, far from Florida but a big adjustment. But we’ve been taking risks all our lives. So me and my brother, it was a no-brainer for me to come here, get the exposure, get coached by an NFL tournament so it was great.” While praising Deion, Wester also mentioned how it was a bit of a risky move to move from Florida to Colorado just to play under Coach Prime, but like all great athletes, he was willing to take risks for his career. Moreover, Shedeur Sanders had a bigger role in selecting Wester than Deion himself, and during the interview, he had a lot of appreciation for the QB.
Shedeur Sanders’ favorite pick from the transfer portal is finally at Boulder
Back in January, Shedeur took to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, to express his strong desire to bring LaJohntay Wester to the team. He captioned the tweet by saying, “We want @la_wester in Boulder.” It is evident that the QB can be a mentor to the young Wester and maybe they can be the dynamic duo that will bring the natty into Deion’s arms this season.

Concerning his relationship with Shedeur, Wester said, “He a great QB. He a Pro. He helped me improve my game and we just share with each other knowledge and go out there and execute.” Knowing that this is Shedeur’s last season with the Buffaloes, he will be trying to give it his all for the team’s success and LaJohntay Wester’s addition to the team will hopefully redeem the Buffaloes after last year’s devastating record of 4-8.
