Is Knox Kiffin making the right choice by sticking with his dad over other scholarship offers?

Welcome to SEC Media Days, where unpredictability is the only thing predictable. Lane Kiffin was joined by his son Knox Kiffin in Dallas. You must be wondering what’s unusual about a son joining his father. Knox’s accompanying his father is unusual, particularly after there remains no chance of collaboration between the Ole Miss head coach’s son and the program.

Even after bagging two back-to-back scholarships, the 14-year-old will not be heading to the Rebels. But this did not stop HC Lane from showering praise on his son, who is already a hot recruit!

Lane and the Rebels are ushering in the 2024 football season with a ton of hype and expectations. Coming off an 11-2 season that included a win in the Peach Bowl against Penn State, their excitement is evident from the pictures. SEC posted a series of images on July 16 with the caption, “Howdy Hotty Toddy #SECMD24.” One of the pictures featured the father-son duo, Lane and Knox. With the 14-year-old posing seated over a bull dummy clasping a football, the Rebels HC is spotted pointing at the prodigy.

No matter what pose they struck together, Rebels cannot land Knox. However, this has left the fans scratching their heads. Particularly after SMU Mustangs’ QB coach, D’Eriq King, handed Knox a lucrative scholarship offer. Within a few days, Arkansas State pursued Lane’s son and handed over a football scholarship to the Palos Verdes High School freshman. If we travel back to the beginning of this year, Knox caught the attention of Mississippi College, which came up with a Division II program offer. However, Coach Kiffin finds himself in a dilemma: to land (Knox) or not to land (Knox); that’s the question! But why?

Is Knox Kiffin making the right choice by sticking with his dad over other scholarship offers?

Have an interesting take?

Not many Class of 2028 players are getting as much attention as Lane’s son. But the father is still not sold. With this, speculations are doing rounds about Knox’s future destination. Meanwhile, the Ole Miss HC has confirmed to The Clarion-Ledger, “We have kind of a higher standard for the quarterbacks we take. We’ll keep him hungry.”

The feeling is mutual. Lane is the biggest cheerleader that Knox would ever get; he came up with the ultimate moral boost on Instagram, “Follow your dreams son!! Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something. (heart emoji),” the prodigy’s interest is lying somewhere else. In the comment section, the fans are coming with only one plea, “Plz sign him Ole Miss,” it’s crucial to honor Knox’s wish.

Knox, who recently lost his grandfather, the great Monte Kiffin, clearly has confirmed that he has no interest in playing for Lane’s program. The Palos Verdes High School freshman revealed, “I want to learn a lot going into this high school year and get some varsity reps in and just grow into my frame.” In this process, who does Knox look up to? It has to be his father’s dark horse, his favorite QB, Jaxson Dart.
