Nick Saban’s legacy at Alabama is undeniable. During his 17 years at the helm, he led the Crimson Tide to a whopping six national championships. However, in retirement, could Saban switch allegiances to his erstwhile program’s biggest rival, Tennessee? While a complete conversion to Tennessee fandom seems far-fetched, Saban’s family might be open to a touch of orange in their lives — all because of his daughter Kristen Saban.

Kristen Saban shared an Instagram story on the night of a crucial college baseball championship game between Tennessee and Texas A&M. She answered a simple question: “Watching baseball or hockey?” with a bunch of orange hearts (Tennessee’s signature color) and a picture of country singer Morgan Wallen sporting a Tennessee T-shirt.

Not mincing words, she declared, “I know where my loyalty lies in tonight’s game,” revealing her support for the Vols. But the fun didn’t end there. She playfully added, “…and yes, I’m turning my parents into a Morgan fan,” hinting at a mission to convert her Alabama-devoted parents — not just to Morgan Wallen’s, but perhaps even to Tennessee fandom.

It might be challenging to convince her father to switch his unwavering support from Alabama but that obviously going to stop her. In a related post, she celebrated the Vols’ dramatic 6-5 victory over Texas A&M, securing their spot as the No. 1 overall seed in 25 years. The celebratory moment included a heartwarming scene of Tennessee baseball star Christian Moore hitting a home run. A warm hug from NFL legend and Tennessee alum Peyton Manning to Morgan Wallen, who was beside him, followed this show of pure joy. 

Who can imagine such a scenario with Nick Saban and Morgan Wallen? It seems almost less likely to happen.

Wallen takes a swing at Nick Saban’s golf game

The Alabama-Tennessee rivalry isn’t just on the field; it extends to the fans, too. For years, Nick Saban’s Alabama has dominated most opponents, including Tennessee. However, the Vols shocked everyone in October 2022, defeating the Crimson Tide by 52-49. Now, that win wasn’t the only blow to Alabama. Country music star Morgan Wallen, a Tennessee superfan, released his song, Tennessee Fan, shortly after, adding fuel to the fire. 

Wallen didn’t stop there. He even took a playful jab at Saban the same year. Nick Saban, known for his love of golf, was seen practicing with Alabama golfer Justin Thomas. Soon, photos and videos of their swings went viral. They even caught the eye of Wallen, who commented on a post: “Philip Fulmer [Tennessee’s athletic director] got a better golf swing” — playfully poking at Saban’s skills. Now that Saban is no longer with Alabama, can a change in their relationship happen?
