Is Kirby Smart the best coach in college football right now? What do you think?

On3 has come up with their 2024 National Championship prediction! When conversations about the potential CFB winner surface, a powerhouse like Georgia is one of the first teams to pop up in the mind. After all, with their inability to make it to the championship game last season after winning two consecutive national titles, their drive and motivation have never been stronger.

With Kirby Smart overseeing the team and Carson Beck leading at the forefront, it’s not hard to see how Georgia winning the title isn’t an impossible scenario. According to On3’s prediction, Georgia, Ohio State, and Oregon are the favorite contenders for the big title. But who is going to be the ultimate champion, and why? Let’s hear it from The Hard Count host J.D. PicKell.

Originally uploaded on August 4 on On3’s YouTube channel, PicKell dropped his cents on who would be the winner of the CFB playoff. He picks Oregon and Georgia as the final contenders for the National championship game. But while he lauds Oregon for their unit, his hunch goes with Kirby Smart’s Georgia Bulldogs. He said, “The experience factor for Kirby Smart in national title games, Carson Beck in big stages, the depth on the line of scrimmage that I think slightly favors Georgia in this game.”

Kirby Smart became Georgia’s HC in 2016 with a win-loss record of 93-16. In the last three years with the Bulldogs, he led them to two back-to-back national titles in 2021 and 2022. And he isn’t the only weapon Georgia has. PicKell also added, “I think the consistency of Carson Beck ends up making the difference...” Beck is nothing less of a valuable gem that’s propelling Georgia’s hope for their third national championship under Smart.

Will Carson Beck win Georgia the 2024 national championship title?

It’s the second year for Carson Beck as Georgia’s starter after leading them to a 13-1 record. And this season, there’s more hype to him than ever as he’s expected to be a potential Heisman Trophy contender as well as the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft. After all, not many can match the talents of FBS’ third-ranked passer with his record of 3,941 yards.

That’s not all. Last season, he completed 72.4 percent of his passes, complete with 24 touchdowns. According to Draft Wire’s assessment of Georgia’s signal caller, Beck showcases “quick delivery” and “got a consistent, well-honed throwing motion.” But last year was a different story. But Beck is poised to win despite his chill demeanor. Once the season kicks off, we’ll come to know if Beck will be able to live up to the hype he’s getting.
