Oregon's mascot at Rhule's presser—funny or just plain disrespectful?

Sports like football can be so unusual at times. As it is rightly said, something uncommon keeps the spirit and the excitement going. Well, something in a similar context happened in the Press Conference of Matt Rhule, which sparked a debate.

Oregon and Nebraska Cornhuskers have no known controversy as such. They never crossed each other’s past on a bad note, two teams that are not even a part of the same league. Why would anyone come up to the other and start something that makes no sense to anyone?

During the Press Conference of Matt Rhule’s Nebraska Cornhuskers Oregon’s Duck often referred to as “Puddles” was seen that left everyone in shock. A man in a costume of Oregon’s Duck was seen sitting and holding a mic in the press conference. Well, is it that the Duck wanted to ask some question for real or was it just something to make up the news and win the spotlight, well no one knows. Though it made the highlights. The news was covered up by The Next Round in one of its tweets posted on July 30th the caption of which said, “Oregon’s mascot trying to ask a question at Matt Rhule’s press conference?”, no one knows an answer to the question raised yet. The analysts talking in the posted video also mentioned the weirdness that is there in the incident by saying, “This is kind of weird, but I don’t really think it’s poking the cage, because Oregon and Nebraska are in different spots.” And they are right in saying that as it is a Pac-12 and Big Ten thing, with no relevance to each other.

Though the speculations are and everyone took an interest in what happened at the conference. The Next Round tweet featured two other tweets by Matt Frieda and John Walker, marking that the debate is on and that the Duck was fairly noticed. The tweet of John Walker read, “showed up for Nebraska Football availability. What the duck is this?” Well, the question marks are all over the place with no solid answer to it. Though people might come up with some interesting theory to it soon.

Have an interesting take?

The Ducks and Cornhuskers have played each other in non-conference games, but they do not have a regular annual rivalry due to being in different conferences. As Ducks are a part of the Pac-12 Conference and the Cornhuskers are a part of the Big Ten Conference. The line between the two of them never really crossed. With the confusion going around about Puddles being at the Big Ten Conference, Matt is still a step ahead to do better this year as rightly talked about in the Next Round tweet too, which reflected the “kind of weird” encounter.

With all the speculations and confusion going around, the only thing to now witness is a statement from any one of them and in addition to that their performances in the coming season. Just be ready as the world of football kicks in the weirdness around!
