Deion Sanders is doing all he can to get the best out of his son Sheduer Sanders. He has revamped the offensive staff with the appointment of Phil Loadholt as offensive line coach and Pat Shurmur’s promotion as full-time OC, to try and get the best of the promising QB. Shurmur joined the Buffs last season as an analyst and now has revealed how it all came to be after a call from Coach Prime.
Shurmur served as OC for the Denver Broncos for two years before buying into Deion Sanders’ project with the Buffs.

Pat Shurmur’s recent promotion to full-time offensive coordinator for the Buffs captures a journey that began with an unexpected call. He got this new job after calling plays for the team during the last few games of last season. Shurmur even talked about how it all happened at a press conference recently.
“So last year in the summer, in fact, I was walking my daughter down the aisle. It was her wedding day and I got a call from Coach Prime to come out. He just wanted somebody to come out and put some pro eyes on things, be around Shedeur you know, it was had to be kind of an unofficial deal,” he said.
Shurmur also added, “As an analyst, you really don’t have a defined role. You just helping with the coaches and whatnot and so that’s where it started.” Shurmur wore more than one hat for the Buffs following his appointment last season.
Shurmur joined as an analyst for the Buffs before serving as co-offensive coordinator and then took over play-calling duties for the final four games of the 2o23 season. But the results weren’t as good as they were under Sean Lewis, who left for the HC role at San Diego State in November.
Shurmur is a veteran of the NFL coaching ranks and along with Loadholt, will be tasked with getting the most out of Shedeur Sanders. Sanders passed for 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns, and just three interceptions last season, but with this new offensive setup, his father will expect more from him and his team.
Shedeur Sanders battled through injuries late in the season, including a back fracture that sidelined him. Despite the ups and downs, he connected well with Shurmur and tried to grow under his watchful eyes. But what does Shurmur bring to the table as the new full time offensive coach?

Shurmur brings his pro eyes to the Buffaloes’ offense
Deion Sanders‘ influence might have initially drawn Pat Shurmur to Colorado, but Shurmur’s resume speaks for itself. Though he hasn’t coached in college since 1998, Shurmur boasts 23 seasons in the NFL. This includes his stints as offensive coordinator for the Broncos and Giants. This experience could be particularly valuable for young quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Shurmur’s expertise in developing quarterbacks, honed during Donovan McNabb’s peak years with the Eagles, could help Shedeur refine his skills at the collegiate level.

Adding Shurmur complements the new and strong offensive staff line of the Buffs. It has established names like Phil Loadholt as offensive line coach and Brett Bartolone as wide receiver coach. Their combined expertise will build a strong offensive foundation, not just for the quarterback Shedeur, but for the entire Colorado Buffaloes team. What are your thoughts on this?
