It’s not one of the best transfer seasons for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs. It spells trouble for the defending champions as they lost their CFP chance in a 24-27 defeat to the Alabama Crimson Tide, their sole defeat of the season. And now the HC has some explaining to do.

Finishing 1st in the SEC-East with 12-1, the Bulldogs’ performance was much higher than an average execution. But as one of the top college football programs, key players are weighing their options as to whether Georgia is the right place. With 17 players heading into the transfer portal, Kirby Smart delivers an explanation.

The latest key player to leave Georgia is LB Darris Smith who announced his transfer to the Missouri Tigers. With more players leaving the Bulldogs, Kirby Smart gets real about the situation in a YouTube video on Georgia Bulldogs Football. He said, “The day age we’re in, kids feel like the grass is greener and sometimes it is and sometimes it’s not. And we don’t control those decisions.”

Kirby Smart couldn’t be more right in his response to why players are heading out this year. The HC considered the situation saying that a player has every right and decision to leave a program if they feel like they’ll be a better fit somewhere. But as Smart said, life is unpredictable and some of these transfers can find success while some won’t have the same level of luck.

Georgia recently signed No. 1 WR London Humphreys, who was a former Vanderbilt Commodores star player. In his last season at Vanderbilt, he completed 22 passes for 439 yards with four touchdowns. The addition of the 6’3 elite prospect could fill in at least a portion of the Bulldog’s roster for the better.
