Jalen Milroe’s shoulders carry the weight of high hopes as coach and staff aim for a Heisman Trophy win this season. Despite the looming presence of Colorado’s Travis Hunter, Jalen must win the trophy in his last year of college, but the road to glory could involve some dirty strategies.

Jalen Milroe, the quarterback for the Alabama Crimson Tide, will be playing under Kalen DeBoer in his debut season this year. Although Travis is predicted to be the favorite for the trophy, Alabama has a whole new coach who could scale Milroe unlike anything else ever seen before. As such, DeBoer plans to maximize Milroe’s potential to win a Heisman trophy this year, adding to the dreams of Alabama retaining its old reputation of dominance.

On the 9th March episode of the On3 YouTube channel, J.D. Pickell came on to discuss the future of the Alabama Crimson Tide in the upcoming 2024 season. Later, he set his eyes on Jalen Milroe and his prospects of the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner and also ended up revealing DeBoer’s tactics to make sure the Alabama QB sits at the top of the table.

He said, “We sat down with Kalen DeBoer in Tuscaloosa. And asked him, “How are you going to utilize Jalen Milroe’s legs?” He didn’t get specific obviously but he told us enough to make us feel like, ‘Hey, we’re going to make sure that we utilize the best athletes on the field’s abilities.'”

Further admitting that it is not going to be pretty, he added, “That’s going to be the reality. That’s something they do and it’s going to be nasty. The reason why I think it’s going to be nasty is because I think they’re going to play to his strengths as a runner while giving him more help than he’s ever had before as a passer.

It seems like Milroe’s Heisman win is one of the top priorities for the team since they’re willing to get their hands dirty in making sure he reaches the very top of the 2024 class. Moreover, DeBoer showcased a lot of faith in his abilities in his recent statements.

Last year, Milroe finished in the 6th position in the 2023 Heisman Trophy race. Even though he lost out to LSU’s Jayden Daniels, he’ll be the favorite to win it this year since he’s the highest-returning Heisman candidate from last season. Now that an offensive-minded coach has taken over from the earlier Nick Saban, Milore could see a major boost in his numbers for the trophy.

Moreover, this is what DeBoer had to say about the QB in his first official media address as the HC of Alabama. DeBoer said, “I think as the spring went on again, he continued to elevate just playing ball. I thought he did a good job of that. There were some drops that didn’t help him out and things like that. But I thought the ball was where it needed to be, and it was on time and so I’m really excited about the summer and what will lead going into fall camp.

Thus, the Alabama QB will have to take on the likes of Travis Hunter, Carson Beck, and Shedeur Sanders to reach the peak of the Heisman Trophy, but along with DeBoer’s support, he could very well demolish the rest of the competition.
