Mere weeks after his appointment as the offensive coordinator for the Alabama Crimson Tide, Ryan Grubb yet again finds himself in the limelight. As per the reports, this time, the coach is probably going to step into the NFL to fill the vacant OC position with the Seattle Seahawks.

This has been a result of the domino effect after DeBoer entered Alabama. As the football community eagerly waits for the confirmation, the Seahawks are looking forward to bolstering up their roster after appointing Mike McDonald as their new head coach.

Following Alabama’s appointment of DeBoer, Grubb was the first staff member in DeBoer’s arsenal in Tuscaloosa. His experience as the OC and quarterback coach of the Huskies made him perfect for this new role. But now, the OC may be looking to come back to Washington for the same position but in the Seahawks. Though the OC doesn’t have any NFL coaching experience, he has an exceptional NCAA resume.

During his time at Washington, the OC contributed significantly to the offensive success of the team. Impressively, under his guidance, backed up by DeBoer, the Huskies secured the 12th spot in the country owing to total offense with an average of 462.1 yards per game.

Despite having no prior experience or knowledge of coaching for the NFL, Grubb’s recent success at Washington propelled the Seahawks to consider this recruitment. The clash that took place between the Crimson Tide and the Huskies on January 17, witnessed the former have a dominant charge of 24-7 over the latter. All these leads will reportedly ensure Seahawks with an accomplished play-caller to boost their offensive strategy.

Grubb’s association with DeBoer dates back to 2007 when they teamed up at Sioux Falls. Over the years, he has followed DeBoer to multiple coaching positions. It was during DeBoer’s tenure that Grubb served as the offensive coordinator at Eastern Michigan. The duo’s voyage continued to Fresno State, where within the timespan of 2019 and 2021, Grubb served as the offensive coordinator.

Taking note of his influence on the team, Jake Haener, the former player at Fresno State and presently the quarterback for New Orleans Saints, praises Grubb to be one of the best play-callers in college football. With this, Haener draws attention to the coach’s commitment to excellence and accountability to make the offensive unit prosper. Hence, the glowing endorsement from Haener serves as a key element in Grubb’s candidacy for the Seahawks’ OC.
