It’s Sherrone Moore vs. Kalen DeBoer fighting for a tight end! The new head coaches replacing legendary figures Jim Harbaugh and Nick Saban, respectively, seem to be locked in a subtle recruiting battle.

Earlier Sherrone Moore’s Michigan Wolverines enjoyed a strong recruiting week, landing four new players. Chase Taylor, WR Jacob Washington, OL, Kaden Strayhorn, and RB Donovan Johnson are Michigan’s new linebackers. Now, they have their sights set on elite tight end Andrew Olesh.

According to “Blue By 90” Olesh is officially visiting Michigan this weekend, and they appear to be frontrunners alongside Penn State. However, Olesh reportedly eliminated the Nittany Lions after his recent visit with them, making Michigan’s chances even stronger. Moreover, Michigan’s championship history and positive predictions for this year will further sweeten the deal for him.

However, a new challenger has emerged, and it’s none other than Kalen DeBoer. Their new offensive coordinator, Nick Sheridan, has reportedly impressed Olesh with phone calls. This development is particularly interesting because Olesh was originally set to announce his decision on July 1st. However, he recently told 247Sports that he’s delaying his commitment, potentially postponing it to a later date. This hesitation suggests serious consideration for Alabama alongside Michigan.

With Alabama joining the race, the competition for this top recruit just got more intense. In recent times, DeBoer seems to be proving himself as a strong recruiter in the post-Saban era, posing a serious threat to Moore’s efforts. Thus, the recruitment battle is worth a watch!

Kalen DeBoer is making a big splash in his first months at Alabama. This recruiting weekend, his June calendar is packed with 13 official visitors, a sign that things are back on track. Even football expert Tom Loy chimed in, saying, “I look at the expected visitor’s list of the Crimson Tide and I’ll be honest, this is the first time that we’ve been like, ‘O okay, this is the Alabama recruiting we saw old.’”

Now DeBoer has truly shown his success in attracting recruits over his tenure. Beyond getting visitors, he also secured a commitment from Keelon Russell, the no. 6 quarterback recruit in next year’s class. That’s not all – the top-ranked wide receiver Ryan Williams who originally committed under Saban, de-committed after his retirement. However, he too has re-pledged to Alabama under DeBoer now. What if he gets Olesh too?

It seems DeBoer’s aggressive recruiting style is silencing his doubters and could prove a serious challenge to Sherrone Moore’s efforts at Michigan.
