At Colorado, everybody seems to be chanting Julian Lewis’s name. Even Shedeur Sanders! Lewis’s interest in Boulder increased after his initial visit to their training grounds and, as per the information available, he is set to visit them soon for the third time. Although he committed to USC in August 2023, there are some really good reasons to believe that the highly touted No. 2 QB in the 2025 class can flip to the Buffs!

One such reason is his increasing interest in Deion Sanders and his sons. In the past, Shedeur Sanders has not shied away from putting on the recruiting cap to persuade JuJu to flip to Boulder. But this time, it was Lewis’s turn to hype Shedeur. Deion Sanders’s son took to Instagram to post a picture of himself embodying the “Black & Gold spirit perfectly as an advertisement for long-time NIL partner Gatorade. “It’s Legendary. #Gatorade_Partner, he captioned the post. That’s when Julian Lewis took some time to comment money bag emojis to hype the Colorado QB.

Interesting Fact: Shedeur Sanders was the first college football player to sign up with Gatorade (NIL). The deal took place when he was in Jackson State and thus he became the first HBCU athlete to have a partnership with Gatorade.

But coming back to Lewis and Shedeur Sanders, the former will visit Colorado between June 21-23. When this news spread on social media, the Colorado QB commented, “Legendary”. It is clear that he wants a great QB to replace him once he leaves for the NFL. And from what Lewis has said about the Buffs and Coach Prime, he seems interested in the team. But he is also keeping his options open. However, what happens if their relationship doesn’t culminate in him switching to Colorado?

Well, Ryan Staub could be a backup, considering he has the experience. Last year, his first career start came against Utah in the last game of the season. In that game, he completed 17 of 24 passes (70.8%) for 195 yards. Further, the team also has Destin Wade. As a result, Deion Sanders hasn’t been too aggressive in the portal. He is okay with Staub as a backup. However, fans really want to see Julian Lewis at CU.

In fact, Colorado superfan Peggy Coppom, a 99-year-old, has publicly stated her wish to have JuJu on Sanders’ team. Peggy, the oldest and the most loyal fan that Colorado Buffaloes could ever have, has included herself in the “We Want JuJu” tribe. Since many expect Lewis to replace Shedeur Sanders in 2025, CU’s Royal Lady couldn’t keep her calm. “Juju I have been cheering for this Colorado Buffs team for 84 years and I’m getting tired of being a good loser. I would love to be a good winner. So come on out here and play for us and help us win,” she appealed.

Does it make sense for Julian Lewis to go to Colorado?

CU has laid all their cards out in front of Lewis before he calls the shots. JuJu knows what he will sign up for when he enters the Colorado grounds and realizes that an opportunity to play as a starting QB right off the bat would be a golden one for him. Becoming the heir of what Shedeur Sanders and Co. have built is the game-changer here.

Another major selling point that makes CU tempting for each student-athlete, let alone Lewis, is the exposure it gives them. Once Julian Lewis comes into the limelight in Boulder, it would directly mean his growth as a brand, thanks to the marketing acumen of Deion Sanders.

The 16-year-old is already riding high on NIL waves, with a valuation of $1 million, the highest among all high school players, and 134,000 followers on Instagram. At this pace, JuJu might as well overtake the $4.6 million mark in NIL valuation, the highest one for now, that Shedeur Sanders has set.

To top it all off perfectly, Julian Lewis’s father, T.C. Lewis, who holds a big say in his son’s decisions, also seems pretty sold on Colorado as his involvement in JuJu’s unofficial visit and dinner with Deion Sanders suggests. With all hands on deck to convince the young player on June 21, will CU be able to poach him successfully? Only time can tell.
