Could Julian Lewis's Georgia roots be the key to turning the Colorado Buffs into a powerhouse?

Has Julian Lewis found more reason to stay in Colorado? For the longest time, Colorado has been competing with other powerhouses like USC and Auburn to win the favor and commitment of this valuable talent out of Carrollton HS in Georgia. With all the Ju Ju chants and the handing of the key shenanigans, Buffs fans feel they’re just one step behind until they bag the 5-star gem.

To add to this hopeful platter is more positive information from a Colorado confidant. Having familiar faces from the Empire State of the South only boosts the chances of the 5-star quarterback who grew up in Georgia. This particular aspect seems to be the current hype with the Buffs Nation.

Buffs’ beat writer Scott Proctor joins Jake on today’s podcast on DNVR Sports on July 13 to discuss the likelihood of Lewis joining Coach Prime’s program. He said, “I think there have been too many signs Ju Ju’s being able to start right away as a freshman.” But the brotherhood of former Georgia players in Colorado might influence his decision-making.

Proctor not only took Lewis’ relationship with Coach Prime or how he bonds with his father TC Lewis into account but also said, “The relationship Ju Ju has with those Georgia boys that are littered throughout the Colorado football roster.” Colorado boasts several Georgia players who committed to Deion Sanders over the offseason, including one of Peach’s best 4-star athletes, Kam Mikell. And he’s far from the only elite GA player.

Colorado’s steals from Georgia

After losing a gem in Mikell, Georgia found many HS prospects seeking their future with Deion Sanders in Colorado. Some of the top players from GA include DL Eric Brantley and RB Micah Welch. Brantley committed to the Buffs in 2022 as a 4-star DL and is currently the No. 37 player in Georgia, as per On3. Welch joined Deion Sanders in December 2023, highlighting Colorado’s great coach-player relationship as a major deciding factor.

Julian Lewis and his father already have a great bond with Coach Prime and the players. If Lewis flips his commitment from USC to Colorado, it will hype the Buffs’ future hope even if Shedeur leaves for the NFL in 2025. As for now, everything is shrouded in mystery as the 2024 season is ahead of them, their first season as a Big 12 team where they’ll face conference opponents like Arizona and Utah.
