Does Julian Lewis have what it takes to follow in Deion Sanders' legendary footsteps?

Has the “JuJu” chant cost Julian Lewis one of his coveted stars? As narratives suggest, players who come to Colorado risk losing stars. So, we can only feel Deion Sanders’ pain as he playfully expressed his fears when the Buffs landed a 4-star WR Quanell X Farrakhan Jr.

Julian Lewis, who is not yet a Buff, faces a setback as On3 and 247Sports decided to demote him to a 4-star player. Despite his status as a favorite to join Colorado, this change could haunt the program. His 5-star rating on ESPN and Rivals remains, but the 16-year-old is now addressing his fans about his ranking, highlighting the potential impact of star ranking fluctuations on player recruitment.

Julian Lewis got real in one of his X posts. In his recent X statement, which has been deleted, the Carrollton HS star wrote, “I don’t care what they rank me and the people who support me shouldn’t either.” This story comes from Prime to Colorado’s July 15 episode on YouTube.

In a way, Julian Lewis is voicing Deion Sanders’ statement on July 11 when he took a casual jab at On3 for stripping off a star from their potential commit. He wrote, “To whom it may concern if u desire to come play for us @CUBuffsFootball they may drop your HS rankings just because… Fortunately we don’t care about rankings.” And the way Deion Sanders sarcastically expressed his hope regarding their new commit is just wholesome.

Deion Sanders exposes a seemingly ‘biased’ rating

When 4-star Quanell X Farrakhan Jr. committed to Colorado, noskozone posted the news on Instagram, which later garnered a response from Deion Sanders himself. After what happened to Julian Lewis, he posted a comment tinged with sarcasm, saying, “Hope they don’t take a star away!!!” This is a blabber and a legitimate concern that the Buffs HC has faced over the years.

When the Buffs recruited OL Chauncey Cooden and DB Alex Graham, On3 demoted them from being 4-star players to 3-star players. And when Travis Hunter was in Jackson State, On3 ranked him at No. 1, and now that he’s a Buff, he’s at No. 20. But the ratings aren’t what defines a player’s skills; such is the case with Julian Lewis. It doesn’t matter whether he is a 5-star or a 4-star prospect; the talented QB still boasts 7,323 yards and 96 touchdowns in just two seasons! After all, the talent, not the ranking, will be the ultimate deal.
