Kirby Smart built a winning culture at Georgia with back-to-back titles. But lately, things haven’t been looking good for the Bulldogs. Some players have been arrested, and now people are questioning the entire program’s culture.
Sports analyst Josh Pate jumped into the conversation, saying, “Casuals will say UGA’s culture is rotten & then trash anyone who doesn’t predict them to win the SEC.” However, he received severe backlash, as the internet mistook him for supporting the “crime culture” in Georgia. He’s here to break down his thoughts and offer some unique perspectives.
First, on the Late Kick with Josh Pate show, he clarified by saying, “Kirby has done a ton. It maybe not have worked across the board.” He also bluntly stated they can “afford to be loose culturally because they’re so premiere talent-wise.” He then went ahead, drawing attention to Smart’s “winning culture” instead. “If you have a win-at-all-cost mentality, maybe that’s the culture. And so maybe winning football games is the culture they have there, off-field incidents be d*mned,” he said.

Pate also pointed out that some people might focus on negative things because they’re upset about Georgia’s dominance. But he also clarified that he’s not defending the crimes. He said, “I’m not saying culture doesn’t matter. I’m not even saying Georgia might not have issues there. I just am saying I don’t think most of you care about because almost nobody who yells about culture on the internment actually cares about culture.” Ultimately, Georgia is a top football program. Thus, it’s “your only shot to take a shot.”
Despite this unique perspective, it’s hard to ignore the problems of Kirby Smart’s team!

Kirby Smart’s Georgia “culture” is under fire
Kirby Smart’s Georgia Bulldogs are having a tough time off the field. A bunch of Georgia players have been getting arrested lately, and people are wondering if there’s a problem with the team’s attitude. Last year was quite bad, with 24 driving-related arrests. It seems like every time you turn around, another Georgia player is getting in trouble for speeding or DUI. And it’s not getting any better this year.
Just this week, two more players were arrested. Linebacker Smael Mondon and freshman Demello Jones were both charged with reckless driving. And just last week, offensive lineman Bo Hugely was arrested for speeding, too. Now, things are getting even worse for Smart this week. Georgia’s star wide receiver, Rara Thomas, is in big trouble as he’s been arrested for assault and cruelty to children. This is undoubtedly an immense problem for the team and Coach Smart. Fans are furious and are calling for Smart to be fired.

He’s definitely under fire but also trying to fix the problem. He told SEC media, “The incidents that we’ve had off the field are not something that we condone.” He also clearly stated that he was “disappointed” and wanted to make things right.
Looks like Georgia has a lot of work to do to clean up its image.
