Manziel stated on X that he won’t participate in the Heisman Trophy ceremony until Bush gets his trophy back. Manziel said Bush losing his award didn’t sit right with his morals and values and that the former USC Trojans star deserved to be on the stage with the others every year.

Reggie Bush had to return his Heisman Trophy in 2010 because the NCAA found he and his family got illegal benefits while he was at USC. This includes money, trips, and even a house in San Diego. However, in 2021, a Supreme Court ruling said student-athletes could make money from their name, image, and likeness. People hoped this meant Bush would get his trophy back, but the NCAA said the new rules wouldn’t change past penalties. This has sparked many questions as Bush deserves recognition for his achievements without facing this trouble.
