The Colorado Buffaloes are one of the last names to come up when discussing the potential winners of the national championship game this season, but if miracles in the college football world exist, they sure did make their presence known today. A few days ago, no one would have opted for the Buffaloes to be the favorites for the natty. But after Joel Klatt’s bold words and a drastic change in betting odds, it looks like the scales have shifted entirely.
Fox Sports released a report on 4th June stating the odds are not stacked in the Buffaloes’ favor. On the oddsboard, the Buffs are at +3500 to win the Big 12 championship game, which ranks them at the 10th position. Moreover, their chances of winning the CFP stand at +25000, and yet, it looks like Klatt’s prediction for Deion’s team has changed the minds of the fans as everyone is suddenly rushing to place their bets on the men in black and golden.

As per the 5th June tweet posted by On3, it looks like the public favor has shifted drastically towards the Colorado Buffaloes since their betting odds have moved from +20,000 to +12500. This is interesting since there weren’t a lot of speculations being made about Colorado winning the Natty until Joel Klatt made his prediction a few days ago.

In one episode on the Herd with Colin Cowherd, Klatt emphasized the big role that Shedeur and Travis would play to ensure a Big 12 championship game and said, “There is a scenario where if Shedeur Sanders is healthy, and they maintain some of that health with guys in the outside, Travis Hunter, who I think is one of if not the best overall player in college football, there’s a chance that Colorado’s competing to go to the Big 12 Championship Game.” Thus, it looks like his words have spurned their magic over the fans who might have possibly been swayed by the confidence of his bold prediction. Moreover, Klatt’s prediction didn’t really end there as he went on to talk about the number of games that Coach Prime’s team should win.
Colorado can win eight games, as per Klatt

Going back to 2022 before Deion ever came to Boulder, the team finished their season with a disastrous score of 1-11. Then, Coach Prime arrived with great pomp and even though his team didn’t match fans’ expectations, they still witnessed a 400% increase in the win percentage by a score of 4-8. Now, it is only logical that the team go on to drastically increase the amount of games they win this season and fortunately, Klatt had a number to predict.
As per Klatt, the Colorado team shouldn’t be evaluated in the “current state of the race.” He believes that the new and redefined squad has a much better chance of doubling their win total from 2023 and said, “I think that Colorado can win eight games. I think that they can double their win total from a year ago.” On September 7th, the Buffaloes will play against the Cornhuskers for their first game, which is set to be a narrative that will dictate the trajectory of Coach Prime’s team for the 2024 season.
