Everyone knows about the 17-year-old legacy that THE Nick Saban has set up, with everyone looking up to him for any sort of advice. With Kalen DeBoer coming into the picture, things have changed from team practice routine shifting to morning or to them putting up an offensive approach. Almost everything has changed but the core values remain the same, that is discipline and a lot of hard work.
Soon after, he started proving his worth, by putting in effort and bringing in new players to the team who were too great to be true, for example, Ryan Willaims along with many more. These efforts of Kalen post-Nick era are so visible that Joel Klatt, the analyst, also came in and put his view regarding the same thought.

Joel Klatt on his show The Joel Klatt Show: A College Football Podcast, posted a video on August 7th on his YouTube account in which he could be seen putting in his view forward about a person whom he favors and likes, none other than Kalen DeBoer. Koel said, “Obviously, we expect a lot out of Alabama. They have been on a run under Nick Saban that has been totally unprecedented, and now they’re going to change head coaches to a guy that I firmly believe in. Kalen DeBoer” Shows how much Joel expects out of Kalen. Joel added to the conversation and said, ” This guy is a star.” He indeed is a star for his team and for everyone else who believes in his philosophy. Landing on 20 verbal commitments for the 2025 class with a golden addition like Ryan Williams on the team, only a star like Kalen can do that! Joel added to the conversation by saying, “…this is a team that has a lot of talent based on the way that they’ve recruited, but they are changing. This is an outside culture, this is going to be difficult. This is not a schedule that sets up very favorably for Alabama”. Well, very soon everyone is going to know how favorable the efforts and changes that Kalen has made are for the team as a whole.

Joel’s belief in Kalen comes out after the talk they both had when Joel had Kalen on his show. When Joel asked Kalen, “Everyone says you don’t want to be the guy that follows the guy. Did anybody say, like, hey, I don’t know about this?” Kalen was too calm about the whole situation and in reply to Joel, he said it is not his first time listening to such comments that people do not like him and that he is not the guy to follow. Well, Kalen is standing firm after all the litmus tests that happened to him after Nick left after setting up a 17-year-old legacy, during which people nearly worshipped him. Settling in a space like that was indeed a rough journey for Kalen. But that only made him stronger and more focused for the coming season.

Kalen has not hesitated at all to stamp his duty on Alabama after Nick retired. He has put in all that he has got in him to prove his worth and on top of that to make Alabama as a team excel because that is what a coach dreams of day and night. Kalen has also started remodeling the team, as he is expected to fill in huge shoes! He brought in many changes, ranging from switching the practice times to morning to changing the playing strategy to offense-focused, which in the time of Nick Saban was defensive.
Well, this man has done a great job if we go on to speak of his recruitment strategy, which revolves around three major principles – effort, frequent visits, and building relationships. It was not easy to bring in so many new star hires to the team, but he did it. With all the consistency and calmness that Kalen has in him, along with the faith that everyone has in him, he is going to thrive like never before. And for sure is going to prove that it was a great decision to have him on board!
