Despite being a Colorado alum, Joel Klatt agreed when the host Colin Cowherd said CU wouldn’t be the National Champion this season. Well, Klatt isn’t the one to blame here. The opponents that Cowherd mentioned on his “Colin Cowherd Show’ elicit that reaction. The competition to become the next top dog in the league is cutthroat.

Since the previous season’s top teams have undergone a complete staff overhaul, they are expected to take some time. This is a golden opportunity for all the underdogs to cement themselves as the next champions. Texas, Georgia, and Colorado, all are chasing the National Championship but it would be Ohio State that would be making it there this season, as per Colin Cowherd. “They’re going to go on win the national championship,” Cowherd said of Ohio State. All that Klatt could respond to that was, “Wow!”

While this was good news, Cowherd also had some bad news in store for Ohio State as well. According to him, Ohio would go mostly undefeated, except for one game in Autzen Stadium, Eugene on 12 October. Yes, Dan Lanning and Co. are expected to crush the flying hopes of Ohio State going undefeated this season. “Oregon is going to beat Ohio State, it’s going to be the only loss of Ohio State,” Cowherd iterated.

While Cowherd gave Oregon an upper hand against Ohio State, he also indirectly snubbed the team from being the National Championship winners. They surely have good competition, but here are some reasons why Ohio State might make it to the National Championship.

The reasons why Ohio State might make it to the national championship

Ryan Day and Co. sure have a fine-looking revamped roster this season to aid them right to the National Championship, but that’s not all. Their biggest strength appears to be their WR, just like the previous season. Marvin Harrison Jr set some pretty high standards for the WR last season, being the fourth Heisman finalist and the 2023 Biletnikoff winner.

Well, the WR they have now is expected to make it to the standard Harrison Jr has set. Everyone has high hopes for Emeka Egbuka. Everyone expects him to follow in Harrison Jr’s footsteps, continuing the Biletnikoff award streak, setting new records, and achieving an untainted record and a National Championship. It is widely believed that the Buckeyes will dominate the CFB 24 season.

For that, however, Egbuka would have to prove himself this season. He’s a former 1,000-yard receiver who suffered a Lisfranc injury last year, had surgery, and returned after missing three games in the middle of the season. However, it was too late to leave a mark on the field. This season would be the time he does that.
