“I feel like I’m a pretty unique guy when it comes to the QB position,” JJ McCarthy proudly claimed on the Go Blue TV. After all, McCarthy earned it, since he won hearts and minds with his Pro-Day performance. ESPN’s Matt Miller touted McCarthy’s 25-minute session as ‘clean’, as the star QB missed only two passes throughout the day. All those present at Ann Arbour were exhilarated by McCarthy’s performance.

The QB remains among the top 5 QB picks in the 2024 NFL draft starting from April 25. McCarthy has taken over most of the NFL heavyweights from the mix, with over 6 teams chasing the QB in the race of securing him in the first round. McCarthy revealed the reason behind it hardly to be his on-field explosive action. It was also the ‘behind-the-scene‘ talks that prompted the rocketing of his Draft stocks.

The QB rolled out sheer confidence as he effortlessly executed out-breakers and added touch to deep posts, smoothly shooting down any and all lingering criticisms surrounding his abilities. Revealing the secret behind his confidence and the teams going berserk for securing him, McCarthy didn’t know what to say initially. “I just realized that everything changed once I started talking to and getting on the board with them. Everything’s probably been matching up with what Coach Harbaugh was saying, Coach Moore and Coach Campbell. So feel like just getting in front of them, getting to know them and that relationship was the biggest thing,” McCarthy added gradually.

Later addressing the elephant in the room, the fight between the teams for securing McCarthy, the QB said gave the reason behind why the teams were ‘gravitating’ towards him. “They got to know me and my drive and my passion about this game and my morals and all that,” the QB said to Go Blue TV. McCarthy will undoubtedly be the first player to get drafted out of Michigan, thanks to his Pro-Day records.

JJ McCarthy Pro-Day records

Not only did the touted QB miss only 2 passes during his 25-minute session, but he also made sure to put on a skill show for the scouts attending the Michigan Pro Day. McCarthy’s arm strength spoke volumes about his command over the ball and his velocity was a witness to all the hours of practice he had done. It was only because of his smooth rollout to his left and a flip of the wrist that his laser-like 60-yard touchdown pass found its target in Michigan RB Blake Corum.
