The Texas A&M team is having a field day with the sort of speculations that are surrounding the news around their new head coach. Jimbo Fisher, the HC for the Aggies, was recently relieved of his duties after an unsuccessful career with the team.
Jimbo Fisher has been with the Texas team for a span of over six seasons. He signed with the team in 2017 on a 10-year contract that was worth over $75 million. But after a poor record of 45–25, it didn’t seem implausible for the university to cut his contract short and terminate his tenure. Unfortunately for Fisher, that’s exactly what happened as the Aggies looked for a new coach to take over. In an attempt to talk about potential candidates, Paul Finebaum names two very interesting coaches who could come to the Texas team.

On the latest episode of the ESPN College Football channel, Paul Finebaum appeared on the show to talk about who the most likely coach could be to replace the failed Jimbo Fisher. The hosts of the show asked him who he thought the coach should be, and Finebaum replied with an answer that got the ears of all NCAA fans perked up.
He said, “Jimbo Fischer turned out to be a very unsuccessful coach he was a failure at Texas A&M. I think Lanning is probably the best choice but he’s got a tremendous buyout at Oregon. You’re going to hear every name in the book including Deion Sanders so we’ll come back to that one later.” Thus, as the rumors continue to air around, it would be interesting to think about a possibility where Coach Prime comes to the Texas team and sports the maroon jersey. The athletic director of the team, Ross Bjork released a statement to give an update to the Texan fans as to why the release had to happen.
Ross Bjork on the release of Jimbo Fisher
After 6 seasons, Fisher’s tenure comes to an abrupt end. With a poor record of 45-25, he certainly didn’t live up to the high value of his contract. The initial contract was signed in 2017 till 2027 but was extended after 4 years to ensure that Fisher stayed till 2031. He’s had his share of good games but it seems like the Texas team has had a different mentality all this while.
"I determined our program is stuck in Neutral. We should be relevant on the national scene. Something is not clicking and therefore, something had to give."
