Each challenge demands some homework, a fact that McCarthy is well aware of. The clash against the SEC champions Alabama is expected to be one of the toughest tests Michigan has given. Hence, McCarthy spilled the beans on his study of the opposite team. “I was up until probably 1:30 just watching film, rewriting notes, rewriting the game plan… Just making sure that there’s no stone unturned.” McCarthy’s efforts to identify the weak spots of the Crimson Tide by making intricate observations are expected to pay off in the field. Jim Harbaugh was astounded by McCarthy’s efforts, stating that he was “born for this.”

However, their opponents, Nick Saban and Co. are old competitors in the game, while Harbaugh is relatively the new guy in the postseason with Michigan. Saban is aware of all the nitty-gritty while Harbaugh is waging a war based on his old-school technique that seems to be working perfectly fine.

In an interview, McCarthy was asked about his readiness to play in the NFL. A brief moment’s hesitancy later came out to be his hunger for learning more or just the bittersweet feeling of leaving Michigan. ” Yes, I do. But I feel like there’s so much more I could grow, so much more I could develop. So many more things that could prepare me to play better in the NFL. But I feel like I can play in the NFL right now, ” said he. Whether McCarthy will feature in the NFL draft is still a question, but his blazing performance in the Rose Bowl is becoming more and more of a solid expectation.
