The Michigan Wolverines are set to feature in their third consecutive playoff this year. Ahead of the big fixture, Wolverines HC Jim Harbaugh spoke to the media about JJ McCarthy. Moreover, the conversation also revolved around how the player could go on to feature in the NFL as Harbaugh’s own NFL future lies in jeopardy.

The right sort of support and appreciation can do wonders for any team member. It’s no secret that Jim Harbaugh’s success this year can be linked to how well McCarthy has played throughout the season. While speaking to the media ahead of the summit clash, Harbaugh was asked about whether the QB is an NFL prospect. The HC replied in the affirmative and backed his player’s capabilities. He said- “Oh yeah, can’t lie he’s not NFL-ready. He’s NFL ready.”

The HC was fully behind his player and was further asked if there was any bit of advice he’d give to the QB player. Once again the response was positive and was more along the lines of playing in the moment. Moreover, Harbaugh advised the player to keep doing what he’d done throughout the season. The year 2023 has rightly been the breakout season for McCarthy. He has churned up amazing numbers and made a strong case for the NFL callup. Amidst the QB’s hype, Harbaugh’s NFL future remains a mystery.

Jim Harbaugh casually downplays any NFL coaching future role

The pressers during the media day were also curious about getting an inside scoop into Harbaugh’s future. After a proposed $125 million contract given by Michigan to U-turn the HC back to the NCAA, the 56-year-old hasn’t thrown any light on the issue. He smiled when asked about his future and maintained a diplomatic stance regarding the same.

This is what the HC said as he addressed the question- “Yeah, just a very one-track mind about this game. Right now, just have fun with the family and the team and the players. We’re gonna enjoy ourselves. And then get back to business, and see if we can dominate the day. Got some good meetings tonight.”
