“Move mountains.” That’s how ready the Cowboys are to grab Shedeur Sanders on their team. Even Jerry Jones (Cowboy’s GM) has previously shown massive interest in the young QB. “[Shedeur] may be the 1st overall pick in 2025,” Jones had mentioned way back in December. While the 2023 season was rough for the Buffs with a 4-8 run, Shedeur still managed to become a major blip on everyone’s radar. While his defense and ability to defend himself in the pocket became major points of criticism, no one can deny that a season with around 31 touchdowns and a 69.3% completion rate is bad.

And now on X, we find Chris Carlin and Joe from the Carlin vs. Joe show talking about the Cowboys x Shedeur pairing. “I think Jerry’s head is already in Shedeur Sanders,” Joe mentioned. Joe goes on to explain what will connect the Cowboys with the Buffs the best; “Attention and drama.” Coach Prime is someone who is always surrounded by it. Hell, back on August 5th, Deion was being dragged through the mud because of alleged bullying problems in the Buffs locker room. Those rumors were all shot down by the players, though. However, the main point is that Shedeur would be the perfect replacement for Dak Prescott. As Joe points out, the attention factor and showmanship that comes with Shedeur Sanders is something Jones would hate to miss out on. “I’d be stunned if he (Jerry) didn’t have a conversation with Deion already,” Joe mentioned. While Dak has led the Cowboys to 3 division titles, the rate at which his price is increasing is something Jones ain’t gonna bother with.

With the new contract, Dak’s price would hit $65 million a year. That’s a major sum and even Nick Wright from First Things First agreed that this would be outrageous for Jones. “The Cowboys are not going to pay Dak $65M/yr and because of that he’s going to hit free agency,” Nick had mentioned. What makes the entire Shedeur and Cowboys pairing even more believable is the fact that Jordana Reid from ESPN had mentioned that, “Jerry has it in the back of his mind what the benefits of a young and cheap QB.” Shedeur just fits the space perfectly with his skills in driving the ball downfield and overall accuracy. However, will Shedeur actually end up being the first draft pick in the NFL, or will someone else take away that chance?

“But if there were going to be a player to potentially challenge for the top spot, can Travis Hunter be that guy?” was an interesting question that Ray had raised back on July 28th on DD Fantasy Football. Travis Hunter is a master player when it comes down to handling both WR and cornerback. Hell, ESPN had put him on No.1 on the Best College Football Players list. That kid has recorded 60 total tackles as a WR (30 assisted and 30 solo) and as a cornerback, he has gone on to get 37 total tackles and 7 passes defended.

Even Daniel Jeremiah had shared high praise about Hunter in his scouting report. “This guy’s at his best on a football field when the ball is in his hands,” Jeremiah had noted. While Jeremiah has gone on to point out that Hunter still has some improvements to be made in the cornerback section, there ain’t no doubt that he could be the potential No.1 draft pick. Only the 2024 season will tell which Buffs player gets the crown.
