Everyone’s watching Alabama this season! Nick Saban’s retirement blew the college football world in January. And now, every eye is fixed on how the Crimson Tide would fare under their new HC Kalen DeBoer. But all is in good hands, as their star signal caller predicts.
Alabama star QB Jalen Milroe is certain that the team under DeBoer is going to thrive this season. Giving big credit to WR coach JaMarcus Shephard and the receiver room, who spend a lot of time together working on their communication, nothing held him back from dropping his bold verdict.
Jalen Milroe made an appearance on The Gary Harris Show podcast on July 29 to drop his verdict on how he feels the Crimson Tide is going to fare under Kalen DeBoer’s first season as HC. He boldly stated, “One thing I can say is that we’re gonna be a very exposable offense and we have a lot of guys in that room that are very talented and I truly believe we have more talent this year than we did last year.”

Jalen Milroe has nothing but admiration and appreciation for the WR corps who’ll play a key role in his success this season. He lauded WR coach Shephard as “awesome” for his “attention to detail” and “pushing excellence from the guys” and holding them accountable no matter their age and duration of the program. It’s through his leadership that he brought 5-star WR Ryan Williams into the picture to mold and develop him. And according to Milroe, the 6’0, 165-pound receiver is going to play a huge part in the team’s success this year.
Expectations for Alabama’s new 5-star WR Ryan Williams
Ryan Williams joined Alabama as a 5-star, No. 8 recruit in the 2024 class out of Saraland HS as per 247Sports. Calling him a “very confident” and “very fast” player, Milroe puts the new elite receiver on the pedestal saying, “He is appreciated by all the guys on the team. We just love the constant growth from him just in a short period of time… He’s gonna be a key resource for us this year.”
Even coach DeBoer has high expectations for this star who was originally a 2025 prospect but was reclassified. He previously told AL.com in May, “We’re going to play the best guys. It doesn’t matter what age they are. Ryan certainly has a very special skill set. Explosiveness along with consistent production.” We’ll wait and see what will unfold for Alabama once the DeBoer era kicks off.
