JJ McCarthy, the quarterback for the Michigan Wolverines, talks about the Washington Huskies and their skills ahead of the CFP championship game. The 20-year-old has been the driving force behind Michigan’s massive chain of victories and is set to win the trophy for his team this coming Monday.

The Michigan Wolverines have had an unbelievable winning streak this season. They currently stand at a record of 14-0 after defeating the Alabama Crimson Tide last week and securing a place in the finals. But that’s not to say that the Huskies are lagging far behind. Like Michigan, they are also standing on a 14-0 record and will be trying their best to vanquish the men in maize and blue on January 9th. Considered the most anticipated match of the season in college football, here’s what McCarthy had to say about the competition.

McCarthy took on a storm of questions on the occasion of the 2024 CFP national championship media day and was discussing the team’s obstacles against the Huskies. Moreover, he had a lot of praise for their rivals, as he described their strongest points.

McCarthy said, “I think the biggest challenge is gonna be receivers getting open. They do a tremendous job of disguising coverage and they’re ultimately fast, physical and they’re a veteran team. A lot of the guys are seniors, 6th years’ and they communicate very well. So just being able to not hurt ourselves, and play on the same page is gonna be huge for us on this one.” Thus, Harbaugh’s team will be looking to take the trophy home and be the undeniable champions. But even with Harbaugh’s comments about McCarthy being the next Brady, it’s evident that he has his reservations for the grand finale as well. With all that said, here’s what McCarthy had to say about his future after the CFP championship match.

Will McCarthy be moving forward with the NFL draft after facing Washington or staying back for another year?

As of now, he hasn’t made an official confirmation of the next step after this season. But with his rankings on a continuous, rapid rise, it’s evident that he would not find it hard to be signed by one of the best teams in the league. When asked about his thoughts on staying with the team or moving towards the NFL, here’s what the franchise quarterback had to say.

McCarthy revealed, “I have not (made a decision) at all,” McCarthy said. “I’m completely in the present moment, soaking in every single day, enjoying every single practice, every single meeting with my guys. Only God knows (the answer to) that question, so I’ll know by the end of the season.” Thus, the fans of Michigan wouldn’t want anything more except for McCarthy to stay back for another season, but it would be folly if the youngster didn’t consider all his options before making a decision.
