“I think it’s going to be tough to defend, starting with practice.” Matt Eberflus said, revealing his plan to forge the talent-filled roster as they have landed their hands on the top draft prospects in the QB and the WR departments. Matt Eberflus, the head coach of the Bears, boasts a coaching career since the 1990s. Quite an extensive one, for that matter, earning him a reputed name in the CFB. In the NFL world, however, Eberflus is a name that hasn’t impressed the Bears’ fans much since he took over the head coaching duties in 2022.
Since Eberflus stepped his foot in Chicago, the Bears have not worked wonders on the scoreboard, with the fans’ hopes decreasing each year. Now with Caleb Williams, Rome Odunze, and other off-season trades renewing that hope, the fans have one question in mind: Will Eberflus be the perfect coach to guide them all? John Middlekauff had a stringent timeline in mind that the Bears might give to Eberflus to work his magic.

“I mean, at minimum, even if things go shitty for three and a half, he’s going to get a long runway. Ryan Poles, he’s getting a second coach I saw today the odds for the first time in a long time the Chicago Bears over under is 8 and a half,” Middlekauff predicted for Eberflus.

He also added, “This guy you could see a scenario if they miss the playoffs and win eight games, and even if in some tight losses they look really good, he is not the coach moving forward,” the 3 and Out host assertively concluded. The Bears have given Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze to Matt Eberflus: It’s time for him to deliver. He even got equipped with two new staff members to make it easier.
Matt Eberflus gets two new assistants
Bears knew well before the draft fever got the best of the fans’ head that they had to turn the tide in their favor this season. So Ryan Poles was gearing up for it well in advance. It was in February that Poles added two new members to the staff roster: One being their new offensive assistant, the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ backup quarterback Ryan Griffin. And another assistant defensive line coach, former Indianapolis assistant Bryan Bing.
The one working with Williams and Odunze would be Ryan Griffin, as he would mainly deal with QBs and WRs. With all the staff members and roster talent at his exposure, will Matt Eberflus be able to clear out the tests lying in front of him to prove himself a worthy coach for the Bears? Or would he have to pack his bags from Chicago? Drop your thoughts in the comments.
