Travis Hunter, the cornerback and WR for the Colorado Buffaloes, wows Deion Sanders with his impressive fishing skills. The 20-year-old is known to have a great friendship with Deion’s sons, Shedeur and Shilo, and thus also shares a great equation with Coach Prime both on and off the field.
Hunter has played exceptionally well this season and has contributed to the team’s performance rather vitally. Though the Colorado Buffaloes finished with a 4-8 record, players like Hunter and Shedeur ensured that the team didn’t go down without a fight. It’s evident that Deion had his full faith in these players and walked out of the season feeling like a proud coach. But with the recent ongoing fishing activities, it seems as if Deion has his doubts in place regarding Hunter’s fishing prowess.

On December 12, Deion took to Instagram to post about Hunter’s fish that he caught early in the morning. He captioned the post by saying, “@db3_tip really thinks he can beat me fishing. I’m trying to be a good host but tomorrow it’s on! ” Thus, he set the doubts in place for Hunter, which he proved himself against when he posted a story in response today.
Hunter posted a story and said, “First catch out here on the Prime land. Early in the morning, you know. Hey, I’m the fishing god. Easily, you know what I mean.” And if that wasn’t enough to solidify his success, he went on to post yet another story that saw him catch a 10lb fish that got Deion screaming, “Oh my God!” in response. The two are known to share a great relationship that dates back to their days of dominance within the Colorado Buffaloes.
Deion and Travis’s relationship before the Colorado Buffaloes
Deion and Travis share a relationship that almost seems like that of a father-son. Although they’re not related by blood, their connection runs deep in the college football world. Deion recognized Hunter’s talents while he was still in high school and kept him under his wing as a mentor.
Deion Sanders said Travis Hunter is going to follow him “real soon” and transfer to Colorado on a recent Instagram chat.

From there, Hunter has since looked up to Deion during his transition to college from high school. He was first playing for the Jackson State Tigers but transferred to the Colorado Buffaloes as soon as Deion arrived there this season. Hunter has believed in Coach Prime for several years now, and he will hopefully keep playing under a coach who believes in his talents and can help him scale new glories in his football career.
